Diode clipping mods have their place, but they're nothing special. People want what they can't have, so when something isn't obtainable, people idolize it. But I'd rather have extra tube gain stages, not diodes. His mods served a purpose back when the goal was easy, simple, non-destructive "drop in" mods to a Marshall. Change a resistor or cap here or there, add some diodes, move a couple of wires, done. More distortion.

If you think that's all Mark's mods are you are greatly mistaken and are probably just going off of the stuff thats been posted on SLO Clones that's been reverse engineered for years now. He can do anything and everything, he did a perfect replica of a real Jose mod using preamp tube instead of diodes, his mods also have noise gates incorporated to the mod itself to cutout the noise some of his earlier more simple mods had. I remember he did a mod usining diode clipping and he used light emitting diodes so when he played through the amp the board would light up if you had the chassis open. I really wanted to post a video of this but he wouldnt let me. I wish I was more technical minded to explain some of the stuff I saw better but there is no one and I mean no one doing what he can do.

He’s had over 15 years and still hasn’t made good on false promises. As the saying goes, It’s not what you say you’ll do, but what you do that matters. There’s a lot of other professional options that exist to get the extreme modded custom sounds and many of us don’t need his BS to copy to create them. He had his prime time and pissed it away treating others very wrong and has somehow escaped jail time because of it. He’s a crook and people know to avoid him at all costs.

Not disagreeing with anything you're saying, I tried to help and get the amps made and when I was frustrated with the issues I was running into I had to move on. I really hope he gets the amps made in the future and people are made whole but you're right its been many years and people have run out of patience.

Just more BS. People have used LEDs in circuits for years. There's no secret occult hidden knowledge in tube amps. Everyone has the same ingredients to chose from for their personal recipe.

I was rude to you when you announced you were working with Mark, and I regret it, because you seem like a standup guy. Imo, it was hubris to think you could do what no one else has managed, but I always feel I am capable of impossible feats, so for that I cant fault you.
Mark never did anything to me, but I couldn't begin to work with him, because I would steal everything he has, sell it and put things right and put that crackhead in the Hospital.
Thieves are the worst example of humanity.
All this is to say, I appreciate your faith in him making things right, but anything looking like defense of his character is salt in the wound of the people he fucked over, and makes others that are good, solid people sick to their stomach.
I hope whatever medical problems you are having turn out well

I think this would be something that Mark would be able to answer best. I am not going to give a top 3 or anything but I do want to point out that finding contract manufacturers to make tube amps is increasingly difficult in 2025 because everything is waveform soldering and everything now is surfacemount so there are not too many places especially in the USA that do hand soldering and wiring. Another thing is due to Mark's past a lot of places that do this type of work simply just don't want to get "involved" especially this late into the game. Also right before I left there was a contract manufacturer that was going to work with Mark but because at the last minute somehow a "internet troll" found out who, messaged them and they backed out. At this point I knew I couldn't help get the amps made anymore this is just beyond me along with my health issues I just had to step away.

Just wanted to say thanks and I did what I could at the time. I had known Mark since 2009 and seen most of what happened behind the scenes and if dude was like a crack head and just stole people's money I would of never gotten involved with him. In fact there is a post from Rob from Tone Merchants and he can attest that in his professional opinion as a law enforcement officer that while working with Mark he didn't believe he was under the influence or user of hard drugs at the time he worked with him. People just assume this and it's easy to post but one thing he is not good with is money or expenses and that I can attest to but neither are a lot of Americans.

You were there when Mark showed me a bunch of his amps. I know he can do other things. I stand by my original point—the mods he's infamous for are old news. People simply idolize what they can't have. But those mods—variations on diode clipping, plate-fed stacks, or adding another tube stage a'la Jose—are played out. It's 2025, not 1990.
Sure, as an amp tech he can certainly do things.

Oh I know. I've had to fix a number of amps he worked on for people, including removing the cobbled-together noise gates taken from the Peavey XXX that were absolutely pointless. Noise gates weren't needed once the actual source of the noise was addressed.
I'm not impressed. For one, that's pointless. And it's not like people haven't been using LEDs for diode clipping before. Dude... Marshall was doing this back in 1987.
Well it would be nice if you were more technically inclined so we could actually have a productive conversation about this kind of stuff. Shiny LEDs, nuclear symbol pilot lights, and Peavey noise gates aren't anything to brag about.
