I favour old Celestion G12-80s and 65s because I think they are the perfect compliment to high gain Marshall style circuits. I have them in Marshall and Bogner cabs. Recently I’ve discovered the joys of Klon style boosts. My specific amp of choice is of no consequence to this discussion

I have a Matching Cab Syndrome. I've had and played many different Cabs, but i can't get rid of my Marshall MF400B.
I do like the MF280B and the EVH 4x12 too. I thought about the 1960BV today.

I was wondering when someone might bring this up. I never really got into that.

I bought a randall xl for my first cab. I loved it, but it was pretty poorly built. I had to rewire it because it had some gimmicky stereo/mono switch shit and the wiring was a mess.

Then a friend of mine linked me a mills and told me to buy it. It was really cheap compared to the market. I have changed speakers a few times and rewired it in a better way as mono. There is no magic with the cab, but i just dig it. Sounds amazing and i love how heavy duty it is.

Then i was reading a thread about the "magic" of the evh cab, and i bought one. It was a cool cabinet, but it was just a cab. I enjoyed the way it was wired, so i never felt the need to mod it. But it ended the thought process that any cab was going to suck my dick and give me the tone of the gods.

Now only the mills remains.

I have three -
Custom Audio Amplifiers with V30's and two Bogner Uberschalls(one stock - V30's and 75's, the other - classic lead 80's and anniversary H30's)

The CCA I plug into the most. Built I'm thinking around 2000. Sounds great.
But the Bogner's are right there. For clean, the 30/80's may be perfect

The Marshall BV is the biggest sounding cab I’ve ever heard still . Idk if it’s the OG v30s but fuck it’s just got huge bass treble and mids .

Lots of great choices out there. Some great cabs I've had, but no longer own are: Bogner V30, Rivera KT412(V30s), Mesa OS and Traditional, Mesa Halfback 412 and 212 with EV/C90s, MF 280, 1972 Marshall slant OG Pulsonics, 74 Marshall w/creambacks etc.

Now, I have a 1978 Marshall w/T1511 BlackBacks, 1988 Marshall Vintage slant, 1993 Marshall B cab w/Altec 417s, and an 800 cab with 1966 H25s on top and 1993 6402s on the bottom. I'm gearing up for a 1968 Marshall cab purchase soon however....only live once....
Oh, and recently picked up a 175lb Ampeg Colossus cab, 4 ft tall with Altec 417Bs....they made these for 6 months in 1967. The cab was 400 bucks...I don't think it ever got played. Speakers need break in. Instant Randy Rhoads with my Marshall.

How do they compare? I have an EVH 4x12. Was thinking about getting a 1960BX.

The BX is a touch brighter. They sound great together.

Without knowing the Cab, i think the Mills is perfectly fine.

I have had quite a few 412s. Crate(with celestions) its ok, peavey ms412(sheffields)so so, but when I got my Mesa Halfbacks..Mc90s up top, Ev12s on bottom, whole different world to me. Have no reason to keep looking for anything else.View attachment 416798

I've only ever played through a JCM900 Lead 1960. What's everyone's opinion on these? Sounds great to me now that I've switched out the speakers. I didn't like the 75s that were in it.

Good modern 1960 cab. 13 ply birch with mdf back. Only complaint I have with them is the circuit board to switch impedance is a fail point and can potentially blow output transformers. Have to replace the one in my 1960 as it’s reading 40+ ohms.

I think i would like to have a 1960BV (for a little extra grind) and one of the older 1960BC (to be able to turn up the Amp more) as well.
But i would end up comparing them all the time and trying to find a favorite.

Yes, my board is bad and I'm going to replace it with a regular mono setup. Not sure how to seal that hole. I think it killed the output tubes on two of my amps before I figured out what was going on.

I’m a fan of leaving the jack and capping the input. I’d give these a try

I forgot I had one of these. There is nothing wrong with that cabinet. And the speakers are really good for a dark amp. I feel like they are very close to the h 30 annies in massive presence and ear grating high end

Ya, my Avatar G412 vintage from around 2006 is my favorite cab ever. It looks a lot like a bogner 4x12 but sounds amazing with the current V30's it has in it now. I got it when their prices were really cheap.
