i just love seeing it. heres Jack Owen playing i believe a marshall MG100?? If theres ever an underrated dude ever, it might be him. he wrote some of the greatest metal songs ever on a Crate. who else is cool and rocks quality shit gear proudly??

I got one of those MG100HDFX heads. They are GREAT death metal amps.

I was watching a Lambchopper video earlier of him using the 8100 for Chuck Death tones. Sounded glorious.

A lot of pro's used to use those old SS Randall's. Kirk from Crowbar and Jimmy Bower from EHG still use them sometimes.

Kim Thayil used Peavey VTM''s.

The last two times I have seen Ty Tabor he was using the older Orange Crush head w/ two 4x12 cabs, a Line 6 HX effects, and a MIM Strat. It sounded great. Even his early tones until Dogman were the Lab Series so not what most would consider high-end then either.

I don't know if a Peavey 5150/6505 counts as a "budget" item...But they are still everywhere hard rock and metal lives...Stage and studio. Cheap, reliable, great tone...Period.

Nuno and DSLs is another good example.

Pretty much all the good tones of history were done with gear that was relatively pedestrian at the time. It really wasn't until the late 80s that gear started to become unobtainium, and its kind of funny to think that with most bands, if you were able to chart a plot one line being better songs the other being "better gear", those lines would probably grow further apart rather than closer.

Can’t count them, that’s peaveys flagship amp no one is gonna be surprised anyone’s playing, I meant budget like lowest line of the company, Peavey would be a Bandit or Transtube supreme

I remember being a little bit pissed off when I was jamming with my band one day andI had my 5153 as my main amp but I took my Bandit as well to use as a "PA" for keyboards as we didn't usually have keys , but this one jam we did. After the other guys had unplugged all there shit, one of them plugged into my 5153 so I plugged into the bandit and dialled it in to sound pretty much identical to the 5153 .. ... of course this was at lowish volume but it still annoyed me haha

Cannibal Corpse was all Crate in the early days, I believe too..

Chuck Shuldiner was using cheap Randalls as well as the Valvestates.

depends on the budget gear - some budget gear is awesome

if you suck, it wont matter if you play budget gear OR pro gear

if were talking about tone, everyone makes the implicit assumption that gear is only going to matter if you dont fucking suck
