Hey guys, I just wanted to circle back and thank you all for the help and recommendations!
I sent in my IIC+ for servicing and the switchable +/++ mod (will still be sending in my Mark IV too!)
I am SO glad I did. Mike B just sent me an email:
Well I got your amp off the shelf today, who ever...
Totally didn't realize someone else had mentioned The Hunter by Dokken! Completely agree btw, Lynch has so many inspiring solos. And Vito Bratta too showed excellent composition.
Great thread topic! I love solos that tell a story.
Here are just a few that immediately come to mind:
Love the long build up into this solo and the note at 5:00 is so perfect!
So many of these old Loudness solos are really well constructed.
And this one is super short, but I love...
I've had a IIC+ for a bit and have gone back and forth debating reaching out to Mesa to see if I can get the switchable ++ mod. I noticed you mentioned liking your SRG more than the DG C++ you had. May I ask, do you feel the ++ makes a big difference and is always worth it?
Oh man, love that track.
Always liked this guy's cover of the tune. Does a great outro solo!
Such a classic! It's too bad I feel like you just don't hear that many outro solos these days.
Wow. Never heard (or expected) that one, but you can't go wrong with Dann Huff!
Thought it'd be fun to post some of our favorite killer outro solos. I'll get things started:
Man... I love Marco's whammy bar use at the end of Still Hurts!
Wow... I was looking around and indeed some of those Tom Andersons get impressively light!
Examples:
May I ask, do you find there to be any negative to getting a chambered guitar? Wasn't sure if it'd affect the thickness of palm-muting chugs for example. I was watching a couple of the...
Just saw them at the Rave in Milwaukee a couple weekends ago. It was my first time seeing them live too. They killed it. Awesome stage energy and musicianship. Singer hit all the notes and Michael Romeo looked so relaxed while playing those insane solos.
That channel 3 on the MARK IV is amazing. Love how it can simultaneously be super tight, but also provide a liquid lead sound. Honestly, I would have been fine with them making Channel 2 identical to Channel 3.
I still play my tube amp at most gigs, but have started in the last couple years using my FM3 for tours on the road and short one off shows where we might just have a 25 minute set and need to set-up/tear down very fast. I do agree with fek that it's tempting when I see (and experience) how much...
I was going to suggest a Mesa Mark as well. Very unique amps. A bit challenging to dial in at first, but I love the sound. Fortunately, there are threads aplenty with suggested settings. Currently own a Quad and a Mark IV. Within about 15 minutes of turning on the Mark IV for the first time and...
Dude. Sick tone and playing! Have always been a Maxon OD808 guy, but will have to try the Super Tube ST9 Pro+ sometime. I still remember when you posted that Mesa Badlander video and was really impressed.
Just curious, may I ask what are a few of your favorite amps currently in production and...
Hi, Wikipedia actually has a pretty decent summary of the Mesa Mark III Stripes:
Black Stripe (1985)[edit]
These are distinguished by either the absence of a marking, a black dot, or a black marker stripe above the power cord entry. Early 100W and Simul US Voltage Black Stripes retained the...
Not sure if you checked it out already, but Leon Todd has a pretty cool video on the Flight Time. You can even get some cool chorus sounds as shown around 9:`14
