Thanks! Yeah, I think one HUGE advantage (even over using load boxes) is you can capture the amp while its being loaded with a cab. There is some magic when the amp is driving a 4x12 and speakers and if you don't need to adjust settings after the fact, using a NAM model like that can work really...
I think I used this video way back to wrap my head around it. For higher gain tones I prefer at least 500 epochs, and getting ground loops and noise as quiet as possible helps too.
Yeah this is using NAM which is IMO far and away the best capture tech right now. Works in a free plugin, I think there is also some iPad apps and HW pedals that can load the models.
Worth checking out as it costs nothing!
Someone asked if I could do a NAM clip of my 5150 Block Letter and mentioned Killswitch/AILD/Chimaira type tones, so I figured I'd dig up one of my bands old demos and dust it off.
No tubescreamer here, just DI->amp model->IR. 5150 was just THE amp for this kind of sound.
not amazing, but also MUCH better than I would have expected from him. I really love Mechanical Animals and quite like the albums around that era. This reminds me of those but also has its own thing going on. His vocal really does sound great here too, its aged a bit but in a way that sound...
haven't bought them repeatedly, but Diezel is like that for me. I want to love them and just cant get on with them. Jubilee's are also a bit like that.
vocals werent too bad (for what they are) but the song is so pointlessly all over the place without thought out transitions, its like the sort of stuff 15 year olds write in their rehearsal room but played by extremely competent musicians. Metal for metal sake, nothing really that hasn't been...
Yeah its not often spoken about - on the non IR version, the outputs are 6k Ohm which is a bit close to 10k (most common for line ins) to not enounter impedance issues. Mic amps are generally even lower. The IR version of the Suhr is (a more common) 600 ohm which is ideal for 10k line inputs. No...
Agree with the whole post above, but especially be wary of this - some of the Suhr units can be fussy with what they're being driven into. I believe John Suhr runs his into an instrument input IIRC?
keep the volumes fairly low, and start with everything aroun 5 or 6.
use the presence to alter the mids, towards 0 will be more scooped, going higher goes more thick/midrangey.
middle is like a treble control
bass I usually keep around 6-7
the gain doesn't really have many sounds, its...
