Royal Blood - Typhoons Full Band Cover | Friedman, P Bass, JST, the works (VIDEO)

Check out the full band cover of "Typhoons" by the mighty Royal Blood. This one was definitely an undertaking in terms of layering but it's a pretty monster track. They have a really interesting bass sound split through bass & guitar amps and is tough to emulate, but a good challenge none the...

Neural DSP Soldano SLO-100 Video & Free Presets

Hey folks! It's been a while since I've spent a good amount of time with a Soldano but really digging the Neural DSP SLO-100. I've made 7 presets of sounds that I tend to use fairly often if anyone's interested. Typically, I want presets to be super fun to play and inspiring to write with. For...

    Matchless Coldwater Canyon | VIDEO

I think Matchless is releasing some additional details/specs soon. Having played both the Coldwater Canyon & the Laurel Canyon, this amp is a bit higher gain and stays tighter when the gain is pushed as opposed to the Laurel Canyon which is much more of a vintage voicing.

    Matchless Coldwater Canyon | VIDEO

Got a cool new one for you today. Don't think there's too much info out there yet on these guys. A little something special from the folks at Matchless. The Coldwater Canyon is a little rock beast. With 2 6V6's in the power section, a super interactive EQ, and transparent effects loop - it's got...

MGL AmpWorks 50W | Killer sounding JMP/JCM800 tones | VIDEO

Thanks! It's definitely a great cab. I don't know about "magical," but it's one of the best 2x12's I've played. My main cabs that I keep at my practice space and use live are an old Marshall 1960A with 2 Creamback 75's up top and V30's on the bottom and an EVH 4x12 with V30s. I'm sure there are...

MGL AmpWorks 50W | Killer sounding JMP/JCM800 tones | VIDEO

It's definitely not a modern metal amp by any means. Pretty firmly rooted in the JCM800 level of gain. I have a portion at the end of the video where I run a loop through it and adjust gain/volume/eq that might be helpful. They also make a High Gain version of the MGL 50 that I have a video for...

MGL 50W High Gain Amp | Modded Marshall Tones on Tap

I don't think so. From the MGL Website: "MGL AmpWorks is part of Mark’s Guitar Loft and was started 4 years ago when 2 good friends with a passion for great Marshall amp tones got together to build a clone of a 2204 Marshall 50w head. That was myself, Mark Bishop, owner, and my good friend Guy...

MGL 50W High Gain Amp | Modded Marshall Tones on Tap

Had a chance to check out the High Gain version of the MGL 50W Head and have definitely been impressed. The Standard 50W is a pretty perfect sounding JMP/800 style amp where HG is a bit more of a modded Marshall fire breather. Super fun amp to play. 🔥

MGL AmpWorks 50W | Killer sounding JMP/JCM800 tones | VIDEO

I haven't, but from everything I've heard of them, they seem like they'd be great. Too many good amps out there haha.

MGL AmpWorks 50W | Killer sounding JMP/JCM800 tones | VIDEO

It's great! It's got a fair amount of natural compression so it has that greasy, easy under the fingers, similar to a Friedman in terms of feel. There's also a Classic/Modern switch on the back of the amp that tightens it up a bit in the modern mode and has a bit more sag in the classic mode...

Used GC Friedman JJ-100: Legit or Nay?

Damn! That's awesome. I've snagged a few things from Guitar Center Used in the past that were wayyy underpriced. Figured someone there just didn't know what the item was. I will say that everything I've ever got from them used was packed horribly. Like their shipping department wasn't willing to...
