    4x12 Speaker Cabinet "Holy Grail"

I agree that the amp has to like the cab, my only 4x12 is the MESA halfback with all EVM 12L's and the upper back panel installed. Heavy as all get out, but a very true to the sound from the C+.

Orange Modern vs Red Modern on Rectifiers, is there a difference ?

That is the way I used to run my 2-channel Triple Rec. A very overlooked part of the instruction manual.

Worst amp you have ever played

I will concur on the "Gorilla". I would rather play an electric unplugged. YUCK

    Most Underrated Amp you've played?

Back in the '80s, the Randall amps were way ahead of the game for SS tone, I think. And as far as the Mark series GEQ goes, my 4x12 EV "halfback" with the top closed off will use a WAY different setting than a 4x12 GB cab with my amp in the same room. Same guitar and amp settings.

Old Mesa Marks on Reverb - Creeping Up!

Fell in love with the Mark II Boogie with Brad Gillis on the Ozzy album. Got 3 (C+) of them now with a Stealth 5153 attached to the MESA amp switcher. No chance of any of them being sold as long as I'm breathing air. I don't care where the price goes.

Mike Bendinelli at MESA/Boogie No Longer Doing Mods **UPDATE**

I have two 1985 Simul, and one 1984 Simul C+ amps. They do sound a little different. Most likely to the components used to build them. Neither is bad, just a little different. Same preamp tubes in all the amps. No knobs on "10", so anything should be able to dialed in or out. All EVM-12L speakers.

    Loudness - Devil Soldier 1982

Thunder in the East is still the bomb, to this day.

    Current EL34/6CA7 reliability.

Beat the bushes for some old Sylvanias. They have a lifespan that is WAY beyond any new 6CA7 that you can buy today.

    Mesa mark 3 no stripe?

With the 105 PT, you will have to very picky with which power tubes that you run, FYI. $1000 would be the most that I would pay, and then factor in the cost of servicing (at which time I would upgrade the preamp to "Red Stripe", while it is there).

NAD - Dream amp - Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+

Tungsram in V1,V2. RFT in V3,V4. Sylvania 6l6 or 6L6/6CA7 for a Simul C+, that is how I roll. Never found a combination to sound so RIGHT in these amps.

NAD - Dream amp - Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+

Try running the Master 1 at about 4-5, Lead drive to taste, and sneak up on the desired volume with the Lead Master. I seem to get a little thicker sound that way with mine. It won't channel switch to the Rhythm channel without blowing your head off, but for a one trick pony, it works for me...

    NAD Mesa Mark III

Had a good friend of mine do an A/B test with a very early Mark III and my IIC+ through identical MESA oversize 4x12 cabs. Around the corner, in another room, the III had a difference in the highs that were more fizzy, or buzzy. Hard to explain, but other than that they were close. He also had a...

Mesa Mark users (for metal stuff): what cab?

I have the metal grille Mesa cab 2x12 and 4x12 with EVM-12L's. Both of them with the top half closed off. This gives me the most true sound of the MESA Mark sound. There is more than enough range within the (early)Mark series amps(with the EQ) to tune the sound to my ears as to my liking.

Best locking tuners for a LP Standard.

Give me your opinions. Setting up a old "new" guitar, and need some opinions.

Mark IIB+ Coliseum vs. Mark IIC+ Coliseum.

3 DRG Mark IIC+ and an EVH Stealth 100W controlled by a MESA amp switcher. The C+ amps are all dialed in different, and it is glorious. Either one or all four at once.
