Top 3 amps you have played

My current amp goes top of the list for great tones and versatility, the other two were great sounding amps but didn’t cover as much ground: Bogner Goldfinger SL Carol Ann OD3r - great clean and a wonderful, thick drive Channel but as a very polite sounding amp Two Rock Traditional Clean -...

If you could play with Iron Maiden for one song live...

I play in a maiden covers band and we’ve just done a show doing the whole of the seventh son album, so on that basis Only the good die young gets my vote. Great harmony parts and the two solos are really interesting to playing, good fun

    In-Ear Monitors - Wow!

If you’re planning on staying down that route I recommend continuing down the upgrade path as and when you can. It’s another tone hole but once you hear great iems it’s hard to unhear them. Great ears buds make a huge difference but then so does going stereo, even if you don’t pan channels it...

Never-Ending Amp Quest for Gigging - What's Next?

If you can find one secondhand I’d look for a Bogner goldfinger superlead, love mine to bits, massively versatile amp

Not much chatter about Friedman's new IR-X, or dude demoing it.. Good lord..

I had one, got it on the basis that it had channel switching and I could just stick it on my existing board and continue to use my presets using midi to switch it like I do my amp. Loved it!! I wasn’t a fan of the stock ir’s, they were all a bit too scooped for me but once I found an IR that...

    Your favorite non-Marshall Marshall

Gonna go with the Bogner Goldfinger SL. Ugly as sin, footswitch that’s stupid to understand and annoying that the modes aren’t footswtichable but it’s an astonishing sounding thing!!

Looking for an amp similar to the CA Triptik 2

I had a Triptik 2 and sold it, cracking amp. I currently have a Tucana which is much more mid scooped compared to the Triptik. Im currently trying out a Bogner Goldfinger SL and am really digging it. It’s got that Marshall upper mid thing going on but a bit more refined so a smoother top end and...

How many amps have you owned? Do you keep a running list? Let’s see it!

I go on the basis that a single amp must have to cover all the bands I play in so I rarely have more than one amp at a time. So here’s the list in order of ownership Line 6 Spider 3 H&K Puretone Egnater Renegade Diezel Dmoll Fender Supersonic H&K Duotone Carol Ann OD3r Carol Ann Triptik Mesa...

    Modeler for practice/gigging

I’ve recently got one of these https://www.victoryamps.com/product/v4-the-sheriff-guitar-amp/ And enjoyed using it at two gigs last week that needed a quick setup into an unknown pa, on both occasions ran direct into the pa using a Phil X two notes cab. first gig I had a wedge to hear it through...

    Bit the Bullet...going IEM

I’ve been on iem’s for years now, wouldn‘t gig without them. A couple of thing I’ve learnt; get good headphones, I’ve slowly upgraded and am now on 64 audio u12t’s which have opened up a whole new listening experience for me, amazing clarity, thunderous bass and most importantly, what feels like...

    Biggest sounding 212 you've played?

The best 1x12 I’ve played was a port city, I imagine there 2x12 would be pretty damn epic. I’ve just picked up a Barefaced Audio Radical 212, only gigged with it for the first time last night but as very impressed with it, very controlled and balanced sound, no overly bassy or harsh on the top...

    The Les Paul dilemma

I’ve always loved the sound of Les Pauls but they are chunky and I’ve always struggled to find one that played well so I ended up going over to PRS. I’ve had a few including a McCarty and 594. Personally I can’t stand all the marketing bullsh1t that goes with PRS, there are numerous claims that...

Friedman Buxom Boost in the amp Loop?? Anyone?

I use mine in the loop of my xtc, it’s great for boosting volume and just tweaking your solo tone, the tight dial comes in especially useful, helps stop the bottom end from getting flabby and you can also boost the mids to cut a bit more, overall a good solo tone shaping tool

    New XTC & Preamp tubes

Thanks for replying, I think I’m just going to stick Tung Sols in replace of the odd tubes. It still has the JJ’s in the power section. I’m going to swap these out for some winged c’s then I’ll check the bias. I went direct to Bogner with this question and they basically said that its due to...
