    Rectos now cooler than Diezels?

Rectos were the last amps that were able to define the tone of a decade, the 90ies and 2000s. It`s like the JCM 800 in the 80ies and the Plexi in the 70ies. People that grew up with this 90ies tones are getting older now and have the money to spend on a good sounding Recto, unlike when they were...

    Retolex of Marshall 4x12

I was thinking of it briefly, but I liked the sound of the cab the way it is and didn`t want to change anything. What can someone expect when changing the back plate from MDF to ply?

    Retolex of Marshall 4x12

Removing the glue was acutally the hardest part of the job. Tolexing still took some time, but at least you were seeing progress which kept you going!

    Retolex of Marshall 4x12

Lets see. I def. needs some aging now :ROFLMAO: Yes, the logo is still missing. They cost quite a bit for a little piece of plastic, but the cab looks kind of naked without

    Retolex of Marshall 4x12

I decided to go through the whole hassle of retolexing my so far favorite Marshall 4x12. It`s a late 70ies cab with G12-65 speakers. The tolex had tears and stains and there was a hole in the fornt grill cloth. And of course, the cab came without the Marshall logo and casters. Getting rid of all...

All this I’m hearing about early 2000’s Mesa Cabs

Celestion V30 were rated at 70w per speaker and now are rated at 60w. Construction is still the same, same speaker

Is this cab fixable? Updated with inside pics and updated again with progress pics

Looks good. I usually take long but thin screws like 1 3/4 length and 1/8 in diameter. You could even go up to 2“ length. Torx screws (6-point star-shaped) work best to drill them deeper than the wood surface, if you want to do it the way as in my pictures. Leading hole diameter should be around...

Can you elaborate P/S wiring a little more?

Is this cab fixable? Updated with inside pics and updated again with progress pics

F It depends how the crack moves through the corner. Maybe you get away with only clamping from one side which would be the obvious hoizontal one. When clamping/glueing I usually try to get as much pressure on the gluesurface as possible. But then, I am usually faced with glueing guitartops on...

Usuall the corner have finger joints for maximum stability. If you are going to glue it together, don`t only use one clamp from one side but at least two from each side. Remove front and back panel before doing this as well as some of the tolex. After glueing, you can drill screws in from above...

    Frustration and no meaningful answers

At least on my shitty speakers, the bass guitar did not melt together with the guitars to form this one big wall of sound. Maybe that`s intentional? Here would be my approach: There are tons of tutorial videos on Youtube. Find someone whose mix or music style you like and go through the process...

    Preparing amp for long-term storage?

Electrolytic caps "degrade" over time if not used. Turning the amp on for 20min (you don`t have to play it) every 6 months prevents this. Other than that, keep the amp in a not to humid environment.

Triple Recto Rev G vs "C Modded" Rev G

I think the in the room push and response is the biggest factor that is still driving the amp industry. Yes, preference and „convenience“ is a possible factor too. Some people just like having an amp with knobs to turn and don’t want to dive into software too much. But its less of a factor...
