I have used Carver, Carvin and currently sometimes use a Peavey power amp 1 channel to power a small pa and the 2nd channel to power a 1x12 cab, pretty good results with all of them

Apples and Oranges, I've done demos for both, very different amps..The Quickrod can get more of a modded plexi VH tone whereas the Suhr is more of a smoother type of distortion a la Lukather, Schon, so really depends on what you're looking for.

I have the HX Stomp, I use for some casino gigs where it's all in-ear, no amps on stage, and it does the job, fairly inexpensive and easy to program/edit

The MXR 5150 pedal is definitely nowhere near a plexi, but can replicate the 5150 amp pretty well

Way before Suhr came out with his Reactive load boxes, he introduced me to slaving a amp and I saw him slap together a resistive load similar to that Jose load box, sounded amazing! of course now his reactive load boxes will mimic a real cab better and have the option of speaker IR's..but maybe...
