"Plays guitar like a man"

EVH was a short dude. I'm 5 10 and when I met him he was way shorter than me. Have to consider he still had hip issues, and he could not stand perfectly straight. Still, not a big dude at all.
His hands, were really big for his body size, but smaller than mine. His hand grip tho, was one of the strongest I've felt to this day.

I did valet parking at Bern’s Steakhouse in Tampa, Fl.
I had to come up something special to say to him,
but man, I had him laughing and he gave me a bro’ hug.

It was after hours, he was pretty lit, what good dude man.
 
One correlation we can also see he is that these more “manly” players didn’t tend to go for those boring smoother, polite tones. They knew raw and mean was the way to go. No elevator metal music. Even Dime for example, whether you loved or hated his tone, it was very unapologetic, raw and aggressive. I have mixed feelings about his sound myself, but would still rather hear that over boring and polite
