Taking on my most challenging headstock repair ever

Russ hit another homerun!

When i look back at the pics before I took it to him and see what I'm playing now, I'm totally amazed! Not to mention, the re fret is fantastic as well!

I bought this 1974 Les Paul as a broken husk...no hardware, no pickups and a broken headstock.

I finished assembling it late last night and let is set overnight to let the neck settle in.

These are the parts i used to bring it back to life...

Lollar standard wind P90s
Kluson double ring vintage style tuners
500k CTS long shaft pots
Russian .015 paper in oil caps
Switchcraft toggle and jack
Lightweight aluminum tailpiece
ABR-1 style bridge

THIS IS WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE BEFORE I TOOK IT TO RUSS IN JULY...

I think you could do it and would be a cool project for you, but if you can find someone that can do a better job, in the long run it will be awesome and you'll have a great piece of gear. The jagged pieces of that seem like there is some good surface for glue, etc. I think it eill go together ok.

Great acquisition and btw, hope my Buckeyes beat your Wolverines Saturday!! 🤣🤣🤣

So good that it makes me wary of buying a guitar and no realizing it had a repair to the headstock.

He did a great job. As others have said, the checking really helps blend in any scars it has. There are some really talented guys out there. Enjoy it and play it in good health!!
