Delay pedals, high gain, effect loops...... so much annoying stuff.

Hi folks!

Aren't reverb or delay supposed to sound better through an amp fx loop? Then... WHY most pedals are set at instrument level with no real line input level selector?

Only some top of the line stuff with endless options at a very high price have this option. ...

Anyone here succesfully used delay before amp distortion (really high gain stuff) ? If so, which delay pedal you used?

I see, good point, the thing is that I don't feel like adding more stuff..

I would use the loop ONLY for a delay pedal. .. my amp is a Mesa Mark IV and I love old dark and grainy digital delay haha

Well, the Mark IV sort of has send controls, if you can turn down the channel masters a bit and jack up the output level knob to compensate you might get the signal strength to where you need it to be.

The master volume controls for each channel serve to control the output level of the loop send, so you shouldn't have a problem putting a Boss pedal in the loop.

Thanks a lot again for the answers!

Will check on these... I'm just asking because the Mesa loops are famous for being a little bit "hot".

Have you guys tried any of these with a Mark III or IV?

thanks again! this forum is the real deal!
