dimarzio humbucker from hell, Any hum sized p90, SD Screamin’ Demon.
Opinions are like assholes, I supposed. He can try one and find out for his damn self if he likes it or not.
Here’s what a 59 neck sounds like in a LPC. Around the :31 mark or so. Sounds petty bitchin to me.
BKP Emerald Neck.I'm looking for a bright neck pickup with not much bottom end. I like tight, Stratty neck humbuckers.
If you can find a Dimarzio Breed neck, that's an outstanding pickup.Howdy! I'd like your suggestions for a neck pickup for my Les Paul. I got an Epiphone Les Paul Traditional Pro IV for a holiday gift. It weighs a lot. Not weight relieved. Mahogany neck and body with a solid maple cap, not a veneer. I have a new DiMarzio FRED that will go in the bridge position and I'm looking for a bright neck pickup with not much bottom end. I like tight, Stratty neck humbuckers. I hate typical neck 'bucker booming tones. My old standby go to for situations like that is the Seymour Duncan Jazz neck model. (SH-2N). I've also played the DiMarzio FRED and the DiMarzio Bluesbucker in the neck position and I like them both. I like to play hard rock (Zep, Deep Purple, etc) and old school metal (Priest, Scorpions, NWOBHM etc.) What do you suggest? Thanks!
Probably not due to the weakening of the 40 year old components, which is likely better for vintage shit and getting up under it, especially with a 40 year old goldtop.Do you think newer Pearly Gates sound the same?
Don't need to get all sensitive about it. And "here's what a ,... sounds like", look buddy, I got two 80's Burny LPC's myself and I actually have had a JB and '59n in the Randy Rhoads one, so no need to 'lecture' me on this, when I already have the experience myself.
Currently there's a PGn in that one and a 36th Anniv PAF neck in the other and both work better for me than the '59n with stock magnet did.
Yes, Mr. Stevens' clip sounds pretty damn awesome, but that's more of the classic PAF tone than 'Stratty & bright', wouldn't you say?
OMFG, lol. Do you hear yourself? You’re the one being a dick about an opinion, so I respond in kind. Telling me my suggestion isn’t a good one. This is a stupid argument and you can fuck right off. I like the 59 and don’t give a fuck what you think. I don’t give a damn what guitar you got and what pickup you got and whatever. You’re arguing with me over an opinion. Fuck off.
Nah, you ran your mouth and were being an asshole. Have a good one. ??OMFG, lol. Do you hear yourself?
I'm being 'a dick about an opinion'?!
I literally said: "dude.... not the best advice in this scenario."
No personal attacks, no swear words, nothing. But your attitude speaks volumes.
I stand by my 'opinion' (real world experience, but whatevs) that if the OP is looking for a 'thin/bright Stratty sounding neck pickup', the 59n isn't the best choice since it has loads of low-end.
But go ahead, keep up your tough-guy act when someone disagrees politely with you and offers alternatives.
You'd be a good pal for VESMedic.![]()
Still not seeing how I 'ran my mouth' or was being an asshole, when I was merely politely disagreeing, providing my reasoning why in light of the OP's wishes, all without swearing or personal attacks/insults...Nah, you ran your mouth and were being an asshole. Have a good one. ??
Oh, I’m running my mouth for sure. After you were being an asshole because I recommended a pickup you didn’t like. Self awareness is growth. Try it.Still not seeing how I 'ran my mouth' or was being an asshole, when I was merely politely disagreeing, providing my reasoning why in light of the OP's wishes, all without swearing or personal attacks/insults...
So far you've called me a dick, an asshole and told me twice to fuck off. Who's running their mouth here?
Peace.
If ""dude.... not the best advice in this scenario." equals 'being an asshole' in your world....man...Oh, I’m running my mouth for sure. After you were being an asshole because I recommended a pickup you didn’t like. Self awareness is growth. Try it.

And you didn't recommend a pickup that I didn't like. You recommended something that is almost the polar opposite of what the OP is looking for. Tight, bright, Stratty neck sounds. The '59n ain't that. Not just my opinion.
Related and on-topic; apparently switching the A5 magnet of a 59 neck to an A4 is supposed to balance things out; more mids, less boom.

Here's the video to the Sentient neck. This Official Seymour Duncan video is really out there.Howdy! I'd like your suggestions for a neck pickup for my Les Paul.
