It has begun. New guitar build.

Fret-Shredder

Well-known member
This is my first full build. Decided to go with KnE and they did not disappoint. The neck and body fit and finish are excellent. I wanted a simple single pick up single volume knob shredder in the collection.

*Dinky Alder body
*Reverse banana headstock (KnE neck profile)with jumbo stainless frets.

Black hardware will include:
*Gotoh 1996T Floyd Rose style bridge
*Gotoh tuners

*DiMarzio Super Distortion pickup

* Blank Charvel style Neck plate from FRETS ON THE NET.

Decided on Purple metal flake paint for the body and headstock.

I will update once I get the guitar back from paint.

Awesome! Good to know the KNE necks are legit.

I’m thinking of doing either that Dinky body or the Soloist one but I hadn’t considered using one of their necks, primarily because I’m less sure of how to finish it. How are you getting the paint done?

I think I want to do a swamp ash body and either ask them not to do filler or use a wire brush on it to open up the grain so I can get a rustic looking transparent satin black finish. I’ve seen some examples of doing this with Rubio Monocoat products. Ideally I’d like to have the neck with a satin black finish too and ebony board.

For paint I found someone fairly local to me. GMW guitar works.
