300HZ - 400HZ In James Hetfield's tone

I suspect it is 340hz vicinity, just my own experience eq'ing sounds/tones has me thinking it. I don't have any proof though, who knows, could be wrong.

Still very case specific, to be honest. The Black Album is not very technical at all. Nor is it really a "modern" tone. Killer as it may sound for that record, try to do that 300 Hz trick in a downtuned fast-paced contemporary song where there is a pretty low-mid-heavy Peavey 5150 boosted with a pretty honky-sounding Tube Screamer, into round-sounding Mesa-voiced V30's and we'll see how well it works.

James is one of my favs, but oddly enough i cut 400hz out a few db on my mark IV with a ge-7. but i'm not recording anything.
