What kind of gear whore are you?

I like to buy gear that's been pissed or pooped on.

Yes it’s funny how we just kinda start out not knowing anything other than I want to play electric guitar regardless of who inspired you.

And after years of playing and possibly gigging and maybe recording look back you wonder how did I get here to quote that song. Funny how some go bonkers for amps some for guitars and some for pedals. Or all the above.

I have a handful of gear I wish I hadn’t sold but I was young and things weren’t crazy expensive like they are today.

These days I keep gear a lot longer before selling. Just to make sure I can live without it

I’ve always been a brand loyalist in a sense that once I’ve found something I like from a particular brand and I buy a bunch of their stuff. Started with Diezel and Bogner… then Fryette and now Fryette and Wizard. With the Wizards I guess it puts me in the expensive gear category too. Lol I’m also a new gear crackhead as I’m always cycling in new stuff to try. It’s rare to find something that would make me sell my UL which I’ve had for 10+ years or my original MTL which I’ve had for almost 7

Ill drop big $ on amps and think nothing of it. I’m a little hesitant to spend a ton on guitars though.

While I’ve owned EVH, a JP2C and a Friedman SS, I cringe a little with Signature gear. As a grown ass man, I don’t want some other dudes name on my gear.:ROFLMAO:

when it comes to gear, I mostly keep around what I actually use (which is a lot). Guitars are a different story, I am a Jackson/Charvel loyalist. I have fourteen guitars and every time I think I want to sell a guitar, I open the case and I’m like “can’t do it”.

I’m a recovering guitar building addict. I went to rehab with 12 slap-together super-starts. Haven’t bought a neck or body in years. But combing listings for guitar parts is like porn with a side of crack.

I also think I have got my pickups and tubes habit under control.

Im down to buying and selling pedals. Always searching for the miracle / unicorn Amp In A Box pedal that sounds better through my non-MV Marshall than whatever is currently feeding it.

I'm not much of a gear whore at all with my drug addiction and all. The only piece of gear I got this year was a Seymour Duncan JB for a piece of shit Ibanez LP copy I got late last year. Sounds great though, so i'm happy. So I guess I'm a minimalist.

I used to be just like the others in here though, buying amp after amp after amp.

I look at the Reverb suggestions for me; If something is different about a product, I’ll read what it does. That’s how I learn most of my info regarding gear. Then I want it; then I research and people say it sucks so I move on. However, the Soldano Poweramp and Caswell…. No reading was necessary and that was a lucky find. I buy shit and don’t sell; I’m a Whore-Dur..

Dude kick the habit. Get some help. For yourself. Have had lots of friends with similar issues. Life can be tough enough without bad habits
Unless your just messing around bro.

Except the SS Friedman's are just WOW!! Plus, raygun...Just sayin' :2thumbsup:

I'm a combination between a minimalist and a hero worshipper.

That hero just happens to use super high end gear, so that's what I generally am rocking.

I do also have a revolving door of "auxiliary" gear thats knocking around, that I buy and resell after a few weeks or years.

Basically the only important things are the Larry, marshall cabs, Gibson lps, and bc rich guitars

I was scarred deeply as a teen/young adult being broke with shittiest gear on stage lol, bad part of town, worst school on the island etc... eventually my years of shit jobs led to a better job and now I like em all. My favorite guitars are range from old 80s MIJ to USA gibbys and PRS. Amp wise I buy local, so if I see something rare for my neck of the woods (or island I should say) I usually jump on it and hoard lol. And now due to a recent job change I buy less and hoard more so new purchases need to be A good deal or extremely worth it. But that new Mark VII...?
