I think the Alpha/Omega set is a nice choice for mid/treble or the Sentient/nazgul if you want more mid/bass. Both are pretty articulate for their intentions. I use the sentient/nazguls in a couple of my 8 strings and they are amazing for drop tuned instruments, but would lean toward the A/O set as one of my favorites overall if you aren't drop tuning more than a step. These will require new pots though if you're starting out active.
 
Which version of the Modern is it? The best one I had was with a DSH in the bridge and a DSV in the neck. It was in the Suhr Modern Terra if you want to listen YT clips
