Working out the possibility of shipping a quad speakers I have up on the classifieds to another member, wanted to know how you've successfully done so in the past. Last time I just used the boxes that I got with a speaker from sweetwater plus some spare packing material, but I don't have any more of those. The UPS store says they can provide 14" cubes and 16" cubes. Was thinking maybe I could put two speakers in the 14" cube, frames bolted together through the mounting holes and packed appropriately, then double box that in the 16" cube with packing material. How does that sound? Any good sources for boxes? U-line appears to only do bulk orders.

Box inside a box.

Speaker wrapped in plastic.

Go to the post office. Gjo pointed this out to me. At the post office the free priority box will fit a 12 inch speaker perfectly. Grab however many you need, put each speaker into separate boxes, then find a box that will hold all of them...then, if there's any space left make sure you fill it so nothing moves around inside the bigger box. Those USPS boxes fit the speakers so well there's no space for them to move.

Really? Great! I was worried that the 12" box would be too tight of a fit, maybe damage the frame, but since it's worked for you guys I'll go check them out.

I ship em 1 at a time in USPS large flat rate boxes, it’s like $23 per speaker. Add an extra layer of cardboard on the cone side inside the box. It’s no prob with a V30, could get riskier with damage with something heavier like a Redback, will not work with an EVM12L (frame is too big and damage risk due to weight).

I came up with what I feel is a pretty solid way to ship pairs of 12’s using two 12x12x12 boxes, one 14x14x16 box and sheets of 12” wide 1”styrofoam. Put the speakers into the 12x12 boxes and cut the height down to tightly secure each speaker in their own box. Cut 3 12x12 pieces of styro and put one into the bottom of the center of the 14x14 box. Place one of the speaker boxes (cone down… always!) on top of the styro. Place another 12x12 styro on top of that speaker box, and place the other speaker box on top of it. Place the 3rd 12x12 styro on top of that. Wedge remaining 1” styro around all sides of the inner boxes. Size the outer box height to lock everything in place. Never had any issues with speakers arriving safely, and it only requires 2 shipping units for a quad (less $$$).

I recently shipped speakers from Canada to the USA. I ended up buying a Uhaul 12"x12" box, speakers fit in there perfectly. When I shipped them, it was 2 speakers stacked on top of each other with a 1/4" 12"x12" plywood plank in between them and another 1/4" 12"x12" at the bottom as well as on the very top.

There's also bubble wrap around the speakers to protect the cone.

Perhaps overkill, but wanted to ensure the speakers were protected during shipment.

Cheers
