I’m a devoted fan of the SD-1. Boutiques and variations come and go, but I always come back to the stock version for boosting Marshall style amps. That list includes the Waza, Keeley, and Analogman.

Received my Griffin Super Drive today and immediately put it through a blind A/B test with my other guitarist……first him and then me. We both came to a “no doubt” conclusion on the Griffin. It keeps the stock vibe but eliminates the excessive high end grit without getting all TS-9 smooth/honky. Also cuts just enough low end to tighten up without totally neutering the bottom.

The Griffin also wins for the cool factor alone……brushed copper knobs and titty bar indicator light.

Thank you Wayne!

and with that, I'm out
Then go for the black 40th Anniversary one. It has the most lows and highs of all the ones tested. People say it just has a different paint job……but it’s brighter/grittier than the modern yellow (made in Malaysia I believe). Want more TS-9 honk…..go for the Waza. There’s something for everyone.
