Had the chance to compare a bunch of delays today at a rehearsal space. All were tested through my Morris UK78 (JCM800 clone) with passive loop and return control.

Delays tested: Boss DD3-T, Boss DD200, Mad Professor Deep Blue, EQ Dispatch Master, EHX Nano Memory Man, and new TC Electronics 2290 P Dynamic Delay.

Long story short, the Memory Man Nano was the favorite by all people involved. Retained the best dry signal and repeats sat in the back without getting in the way. Modulation was also great and easy to dial in if you like that vibe.

Biggest disappointment was the TC 2290. It clipped/distorted like crazy in mono mode and the users manual was useless. Think this is just a Flashback in fancy clothes.

The Dispatch Master was good but seemed to fatten up everything. Not the best for high gain. The DD3-T was as good or better than the DD200. It does a nice clean delay with some analogue qualities.

Yeah I’ve not been wowed by the 2290P clips at all. Just seems like a basic delay pedal in sheeps clothing. It doesn’t capture the 2290 rack thin like 80’s tone all that well to my ears but I’ve neither played the pedal or heard one in person so YMMV.

The OG Memory Man is supposed to be the shit..

Try the free the tone flight time. Pretty cool. Also the providence chrono. Both cool.

A second vote for the Free the Tone Flight time. Actually Free the Tone anything…

TC stuff always comes across as so bland to me. I want to like the brand.

Want to try one of those nano MM’s sometime.

Boss is my go to for delays these days. Goldilocks status for me

Always loved the DD3. It’s just easy to use and sounds great. The later versions such as DD7 just sound more digital. I’ve got the Japanese version that will always be my main delay. I know a lot of modern players want more features, but it works for what I use it for.
