Saw this on GC's used site and had to get it. Always wanted one and they don't pop up as often as they used to for a decent price. What do you think?

Not my style at all but I bet it's a killer guitar. That board looks absolutely top notch and having handled some carvin's before I bet it is. Please share with the class how it works out for you when you get it. Congrats.

Not sure of the year, but I'll know when I get it and can check the serial number. Wish mine had the Kahler like yours.

It's difficult to tell from the pic, but is that a Floyd? Locking tuners I assume because there's no locking nut?

Mine has no serial number that I can see, but I was able to date it based on some of the features that were only available between 1984 and 1986. I've been told that they often had the serial number on the jack plate (which is really weird) but I don't see one on mine.

Yes, it has a floyd but no locking nut, just the locking sperzel tuners. I'm not much of a whammy bar user, so no big deal. I'll probably just lock it in place. All my other Carvins have the serial number on the jack plate, so I'll see if this is the same.

I'm guessing yours is a 2007+ reissue given the inlays and control pattern. Looks to be an OFR instead of the licensed model (which is schaller, so not bad either way). Hope it finds it's way to you after reading the updated thread.

When looking at these only cream pickups/chrome hardware available in 84 iirc (so, imo Zeegler's =85/86), Cursive logo 84-87, Block logo 88+, Kahler 2300 84-89, Kahler Flyer 87 only, OFR 88-89, Licensed FR 90-92, short(er) headstock 84-87, longer headstock 88+, serials can sometimes be helpful but many years can cross over and aren't really in order except in "if it falls within" 13xxx-25xxx it's an 84-87, but 88-90 starts at 22xxx, so...
wood types can be useful as well.
