I got a call from Guitar Center this morning. I guess she's a VIP customer now, whatever that means. What I think it means is she orders a metric ton of stuff from GC. She has an acoustic arriving today that she bought on GC used. She's like a drug addict.......VIP CLUB gets 15% off your next order, no minimum purchase. I let her know she is busted and she just sent me a laugh emoji, lol.

Yes, it's true. My wife is a bigger gear addict than most of the guys on this forum. I have sampled an awful lot of acoustic guitars and acoustic guitar pickups over the last five or six years! Installed quite a few too. I find it funny that so many guys have to hide stuff from their wife. My wife hides stuff from me. I'm trying to get her help but she' fueling my own gear habits. Just one more speaker and then I'm done......lol

My wife and I have an understanding. As long as we're not going into debt and floating things on a credit card, she doesn't say anything about my gear spending and I don't give her crap about whatever she buys. Though it creates an environment of enabling.

Honey, even though I don't need it at all I'm thinking about getting this.
Can you buy it outright?
Yes.
Then get it.

My wife makes ok money so I figure it's hers and I have no right to criticize her for what she buys. Except I decide what cars to buy, period, non negotiable. I bought ten acres once without telling her so for a long time when new acoustics were showing up unexpectedly she would use that against me, lol.

She does sometimes float guitars and other gear on the GC card but she has built her credit from nothing to about 700 putting small amounts on GC and Ulta beauty, so it has worked out in her favor since she is timely with all her payments.

Aren't we all floating some debt on a GC card ??? If not .... my perspective is askew ...... lol

No. I don't use cards at all for anything. I had some credit cards 25 years ago. I don't even have a bank account right now because I'm doing music and side jobbing and someone else in the band handles the checks. I like paying cash for everything. I just find it easier to keep track of my spending and then I don't owe anyone anything. And no one can pry into what I buy. The only note we have right now is for her vehicle and her student loans so it's a pretty good feeling especially in these expensive times.

good for you man ..... that's awesome !

So you are co-dependent?

My wife helped me clean up my credit 30 years ago and we only use things like Southwest CC that racks up points. Otherwise it is cash. She's the smart one so I let her handle the money. I think it is boring so it works out. You have a good lady there - hold onto her.

We are 50/50 on pretty much everything including our house. I have my own car and guitars and she has hers, everything else is basically shared property. I work gigs and odd jobs for cash mostly so every time I open a bank account I just get screwed because the monthly fees usually exceed the amount of cash I keep in there, lol. I only put money in when I need it to be there. IME the credit unions are slow about your cash deposit showing up for use with a debit so I avoid them as well. If I need to cash a check I sign it to her and she deposits it. I can't remember the last time that was, lol.

My wife told me I needed gear BEFORE we got married. That's when I knew she was the ONE. LMAO. Been married 18 years now and if I don't pick up a guitar or play my drums for a couple of days she looks at me and says "I don't hear any music coming from your music room".

God, I love that woman.

I need a new lady . One that will buy me gear . Not settling for less . I know my worth lol
LOL, my wife has enabled me for the following: 1961 SG/LP Std with PAF's, 63 SG Jr I converted to the Fool SG. Keebler 59 replica, and she went 1/2 on a 1968 Marshall stack earlier this year. My wife rules!
