5/8 vs 3/4 plywood for cabs

I'm not sure about Mesa ever switching from 3/4" plywood to 5/8", but he's comparing apples to oranges. The 123 lb weight is the shipping weight Mesa used to list for the 4x12 Standard Slant cab in its box. I believe they list actual product weight on their site now (104 lbs for the same cab).

For refence, their shipping weight adds 10 lbs to a Dual Rectifier head (49 lbs listed vs. 39 lbs actual) and I'm sure closer to 15-20 lbs for a 4x12 cab.

I always thought Mesa have used 15mm on all Recto and Stiletto cabs? I believe the added weight of a Trad cab compared to a Marshall 1960V cab just comes down to extra bracing, the heavier dutier hardware, and maybe slightly denser/higher quality brich ply.

A Mesa Trad cab is still lighter than an Orange cab.

ENGLs are 18mm, just like Orange.

It's never apples to apples as dimensions and cab design changes from Orange to Mesa to Marshall to ENGL, but (maybe I'm overgeneralizing) it seems like the thicker ply yields darker, bassier tones, and the thinner ply brighter, livelier.
