Is it just me, or are the 65 watt Creambacks a bit heavy on the bass side?
I have a bluesbreaker cab, open back with a 12” Celestion Creamback.
I also have a 2061 cab, closed back 2x12 with one speaker being a Celestion Creamback.

The amount of bass I get is a lot. I’m using my Metro kit JTM45 and the bass is completely rolled off. 0 o’clock for those of you that don’t understand completely rolled off.

I keep thinking I’d like the amp “tighter” but now I’m thinking this may be more of a speaker issue?

Compared to what? What did you have before the CBs? My experience with them has been great so far.

I had the 2x12 with factory vintage 30’s.
The single 12 I had a Scumback M75PVC.

More than bassy, I'd say they're a bit low-mid heavy. But yeah. That has been my experience with Creambacks.

Controversial opinion here, but people often say that H magnet Celestions are usually bassier than their M magnet counterparts. That has not been my experience.

With the exception of h30s, i think h magnets have a sexy low mid strength that can really complement some amps

Depends on which H speaker we're talking about.

Comparing H-75's and M-65's which are the same speaker minus the magnet size, I'd say the H's are brighter, tighter, and more cutting (and louder), and the M's are fatter and smoother and a bit more midrange focused.

Also, like you said, H30 Annis vs. RI Classic series Greenbacks, same story.

JME.

Yeah. I have played 3 h speakers, and the red backs are my fav

Never tried the Redbacks. Would love to try some. But the thing is they don't have an "M" version compare, so it kinda gets apples to oranges.

Yeah. I played the 75 and loved them, but unless @RedB4Black ells me otherwise, i havent played m65s

Yes, the G12-M65 Creamback is a bit rounder, darker, and fuller on the low mids and low end than the H75 variant. I think the M-65 Cream pairs very well with the Vintage 30: really close wattage, M-65 fills out the low end, V30 brings the clarity and sizzle on top. I've got this pair in a Thiele ported 2x12 (horizontal) and its the best sounding cab I have ever owned or played through.

I've had all three versions of the Creamback (pre production, 1st rev & 2nd rev) in both M65 and H75 versions. The M's are dark, muddy and just don't have the clarity of a G12M. The H's are loud, brash, and even more bass. Frankly, I don't know what they were thinking when they brought these to market.

You hit the nail on the head in regards to the sound/tone of those speakers!

Chances are you’ll be hearing from me. I’m going back to the M75PVC in my bluesbreaker cab and will probably end up ordering two of the 25 watters from you for my 2x12.

Been using the 75H for well over a decade in my cabs. They are definitely low-mid heavy as someone else mentioned. I think they rule. Any time I have to use a V30 cab or something similar, sounds way too harsh to my ears.

I much prefer the H to the M. The neo creams are a bit harsh with certain amps too

Well I’ll have two mint Celestion G12M 65 watters for sale.

I agree. The H75 is my favorite speaker to date. But I haven't really tried many others. A few Scumbacks, a few other Celestions, a few WGS. I'd really like to try Fanes.

I don’t find the M65’s overly bassy. Sound like a GB flavored speaker that holds together. Much better than the regular 65’s. Any H speaker sounds terrible to me. All bass and highs, no mids. At least for live they suck.

I can only comment on the M65, as I've had my (2) Friedman Vintage 1x12's for over a year. I find them fantastic, and much tighter than a Greenback. Dave Friedman sure seems to like them, and they do high gain very well. They're punchy, tight little cabs - I love them!

Agree. Love the Creamback 65’s
