Used to be. And Krav Maga. Got older though and shorter of breath. These days I figure whatever I'm gonna do needs to take less than a minute so I just concentrate on maximum damage as quickly as possible.
I went through about a 5 - 6 year period when I was just obsessive. Like any other 'skill based' pursuit you just gotta' keep up the regular repetitions to stay really sharp - and I hit a point with work and life when that just wasn't feasible. Now I'm at an age where my joints and connective tissue are my limiting factor. I still do quite a bit of slow rep body weight calisthenic type stuff: push-ups / pull-ups / lunges / crunches. I know I'd get my clock cleaned today in a throw down against a young trained individual - but I sure enjoyed my time in the martial arts rabbit hole. If nothing else, it makes watching MMA more interesting when you can identify positions and entries etc as they develop.
I trained for most of my life. Sparred with many pro MMA's including Nick Newel. He kicked my ass. I found the discipline very akin to building skill on an instrument. I took those lessons over to guitar with me.
