So here’s an opinion you’re really not going to like. if you don’t like opinions of others talking about gear on a site named Rig Talk, then shut your fucking ass up and keep it to yourself if your first inclination is to tell others to do the same.
To be fair, you have admittedly never played the amp, so any 'opinion' you may have of it should be taken with several grains of salt

Very true but even those that have played a Deluxe or even own one haven’t played a Friedman Jose, so the juxtaposition is valid in both directions. All you have to go by on common ground is what’s recorded from both.

Nah, recorded tone doesn't mean shit to me when I'm looking for an amp--that bond is all feel IMO. There are a million Friedman BEs out there, if you haven't played one you aren't trying.

I look forward to checking out the new Jose and the JEL50 Friedmans.

I would love to try a bunch of friedmans. I think I would bond with his amps, smooth or not. I hear clips of his stuff, and I mean, the dirty shirley is appealing as fuck. It is a low gain amp I would like to fight that amp to make it dirty.

I've had several Friedmans and the Twin Sister stays. I thought the orig DS was too muddy--the new bright switch helps a ton. It doesn't bite as hard but it has more gain than a 2203/4. Great with or without a boost. Killer clean/low gain tones too.

FF to about 1:20 and there is plenty of wanking with the TS. I just don't want you to get stuck on my 'muddy' comment

I don't think I would call it low gain at all

It's more like a highER gain jtm45 or something, it's really really fucking cool and has all the hair and warts and balls I feel is missing on the BE series

The plex and jose clips ive seen all sound killer too

In general there are way too many strong opinions I see guy give of amps they never played, often stronger than my own opinions of amps I've had for years lol

The DS has more gain than most people think. Here’s what my TS sounds like. This was with Aldrich pickups

Killer and versatile amp. It can be smooth or dark like guys say, but, you can also dial it in to be the opposite of that.

The Poweramp controls are Icing on the cake on this one. I loved it so much that I had my BE100 moded to have the BE50 Deluxe Thump and Response added to it !

The BE50 is my Marshall-like amp that I use these days. True, it's not an exact Marshall sound, but it's very pleasant in its own way. I really like the BE and HBE high gain tones, as it's Dave's version of a high gain Plexi. I had Dave add the Thump option of the JJ100/Slax to my amp (he put a push/pull knob on it). I do prefer the Thump tone of the JJ/Slax, although both are good. However, the other mod he added is a lot more interesting. I originally asked him to add the C45 switch. He did, but it only seemed to add some punch or percussion to the tone. It wasn't an improvement over the regular sound. I asked him to check it and it was correct, but he added an HV (high voltage) switch, which in the left position, it adds the voicing (higher treble and frequencies) of the JEL50. This is very cool because it sounds very close to a high gain JCM800 with this switch engaged. I asked Dave about getting an IRJ and running into the loop and he said there was no need to buy it, as this HV mod is essentially the same.

The only downside I would say about the amp is that, even with the Thump and Bass on 10, the amp does not have a hugh amount of low end. It could be speaker situation, but I don't think it is. I have a Mark IV that has much more low end with the same speaker (Mesa 2x12 with 2 greenbacks).

Interesting cosmetics for BE...Custom Job?

Thanks and yes - I wanted it to look like the Dirty Shirley. I live in SoCal so it was easy to order and pick up. I will tell you though is that if you order directly through DF, it will not cost as much you think. Obviously, you could save a lot of money if you buy used, but it's better in my opinion or order direct from the source if you want a new Friedman.
