RESIDENT ROCK PROFESSOR

I read they said they used the Rectos they used live in the studio ( sounds like they forgot to boost them According to Kirk .
.
In the verses James sounds like the fat Albert motif lol fr .
I like the Digitec Space station on the chorus .

sure sounds like it.

there are people that can make them sound good, even without a boost, tough.

Well, still way better tone than anything they released since Death Magnetic.
They'Re might be actually songs, but because of the sound i don't like to listen to it.
Just horrible

That snare though... Not as bad as on St. Anger, but still 🤮

Some parts of the song are quite good, other parts are... not.

I'm pretty neutral on the tones. This track sounds better than anything in Death Magnetic, Hardwired, or Seasons though.

As did Simmons Drums in the 80s and distorted vocals in the early 90s. Awful, awful trends. And don’t get me started on movie dialog samples in songs

Ah man yeah this is the worst. It's always the cheesiest bullshit ever and takes me right out of the music every single time every time I hear somebody do it.

I’ll give MEtallica a half pass on this for the One video because it was only for the video and relavent to the subject matter.

Yep, agreed.

I think we're both more talking about bands who just add random clips of "cool" movie quotes to songs because they think it will elevate the music to that same level of cool but it just ends up sounding too tryhard and tone deaf.

"What we've got here, is failure to communicate..."
love it

Really ? Death magnetic is really cool to me .

Haven’t heard this one in forever… it’s okay. I think legitimately the only two Metallica songs I’ve liked in the last 25 years are from hardwired. Dug the title track and spit out the bone.

I just can't get into it man. I've always thought the guitar tones on it are weedy and thin sounding, and the mix clipping is constant and awful.

Sound like pick scrapes on the E and A string to me....

That certainly wouldn't be done in the mastering process then :hys:

you guys are missing the point so hard, it doesn't matter whether they used "the mastering process", a DJ, a guitar, a kazoo, or a rubber chicken to make the sound, the point is that the sound is cringey and retarded and sounds like the late 90s LOL

Yeah that was rough... Looks like they ripped off the "everyone's running" premise of another contemporary music video too.

Also RIP Napster.

If I remember right this was a theme and there were a couple other "everyones running" music videos

Just everything about it is so cringe
