I'm usually a hot-ish PAF guy (and a boo-teek one at that) but I recently picked up a Charvel Henrik Danhage with a JB in the bridge, and after some tweaks and REALLY liked the higher output pickup. Who knew?!?
Great grind, singing high notes, and that mid push. But, it sounded juuuust a little flat and lifeless to me.
So, I took a shot and swapped in a JB Antiquity yesterday (looks like it was wound by MJ- sweet!)
Holy smokes, what a pickup!
To me it's like a 3D version of the production JB- a little more clarity, not quite as congested in the mids, sweeter, more organic, and it's a perfect visual match for the heavily aged guitar finish.
Killer, killer pickup- this guitar is a rock beast!
