Was just looking on Reverb and noticed many dealers are now charging 1999.00 for the Peavey 6505 II that's quite a jump from the 1699.00 it was just a week ago .

I guess the tariffs have already begun and this is just one example. Get Ready!

Maybe the tariff's, maybe not. Prices are going to go up regardless.

I remember being able to buy a Les Paul Custom for $699

Wouldn't surprise me if there were some kind of "oil futures rose so gas prices at the pump rose more and immediately" type shenanigans going on. Or it could be that normal market forces are already afoot. As cynical as I am, I can imagine it's tricky trying to plan

Have seen price rises on a number of things over the past week. Lots of FMIC stuff.
Tbh, if they stopped producing everything there would probably be enough used gear to serve everyone who cares for generations.
Guessing that's also a factor. These companies aren't selling a million guitars a year anymore.
Predicting lots of brand selloffs/going under in the next few years while lifestyle merch and subscription services increase while gear production levels drop until they're considered nearly boutique while increasing prices. Why sell 1k of something at $2k when you can sell 500 at $4k and save yourself some labor and operating costs?

Read this as "decrease" at first and got excited. Darn.

They only need to sell to those who are nostalgic and have money, as well as those under the influence of an influencer. The latter requiring an evolution away from what has been normal to most of us if they want to survive long term. Gibson energy drinks, phone chargers, contraceptives, and driverless cars. Perhaps augmentations that beam the music right into your brain while simultaneously uploading your thoughts onto a server and having ownership of your IP because y'all didn't read the fine print. Play authentic.

Need to photoshop a pic of Mark Agnesi, with Star Trek Borg makeup saying "Play Assimilated"

Is he not already a Borg? If not, get Shreddi on it. He's probably already working on it. :ROFLMAO:

I picked up a 6505+ combo this past week for cheap as fuck!!!! Lol… no way I would pay that much for a new one. It’s nice but not that nice. The sleeper on mine is the low gain crunch channel boosted with the mxr classic overdrive. Hit it with some volume and it sounds pretty good…. Of course the high gain channel kills but the crunch channel is pretty cool.

Maybe people trying to take advantage and using that as cover.

I might be wrong, but the way I understand it, the tariff is on the incoming price when it enters the US, not the retail prices we see.
For example: Say the amp cost $500 to build overseas (totally arbitrary number) and retails for $2000 in the US. A 10% tariff would make the company pay $550 for the amp coming in ($500 to the overseas company and $50 to the Feds). So it would add $50 (10%) to the cost on arrival. It should not increase the price of the amp by $200 (10% of $2000), at worst it should increase by $50.

All I know is companies will use any excuse to raise prices whether justified or not. I see a lot of blaming it on things that aren't even effecting their bottom line but the Public will take it as a "that's how it is I guess".
With the market hyperventilating and having seizures every second week I can imagine consumer confidence will be in the toilet this year.

What was their excuse for raising the price to $1699 from the $1299 or whatever it was in 2019 ?
