Ever since I saw my fat ass reflection in my window the other day playing guitar, I figured I need to get back to eating right. I did carnivore a little over a year ago when I was up north and got great results, and should have kept at it. Anyways, I am currently on a 3 day water fast. I started yesterday morning, so I'm getting close to the end of day 2. It's been longer than 48 hours though, as I probably ate something last about 7 or 8 the night before I started. Sunday morning I'll be able to eat again, though I may just try and get it through until Monday morning to get an extra day in.

It's not really going to do much for weight loss, but it will kickstart my body into ketosis, autophagy will have started to help clear up any medical issues I don't know I have (I'm pretty healthy), reduce inflammation, and get my body reset to factory settings. After I finish up the fast, I'm going to ketovore, with most of it being carnivore. I found a good looking recipe for keto flatbread (cottage cheese and eggs) I'm going to try and maybe make some wraps out of it with sliced meat, sliced red onion, sliced tomato, and some mayo.

As I type, I'm sipping a cup of coffee. Black coffee is ok on a fast, and is supposed to boost autophagy, which is an added benefit. I've never really drank black coffee, but I bought me some fancier organic medium roast at WalMart tonight with a french press. I eventually got used to unsweet tea, I'm sure I'll get used to this, though it isn't terrible.

Also, check out this sweet deal I got on ribeye at the grocery store earlier! After slicing it at home, I got about 23 steaks for about $72 after tax and all. I wish I had more room in my freezer, as I would've bought more. That's like $3.15 a steak.

Great that you're goin' at it Matt.

Here's my take on diet as succinctly as I'm able. Spent 43 years figuring it out. This literally makes much of what is discussed these days redundant:

------------------------

Elimination phase (4AM -> 12PM)

Only raw fruit, water or nothing for breakfast. Body's in an 8-hour detox phase from 4AM -> 12PM. Any other food with the odd exception such as spirulina will stop that detox phase in its tracks. Imagine 50 years of preventing your cells from going to the crapper every day. Hello, disease.

Absorption phase (12PM -> 8PM)

Heaviest (most-dense) food in the afternoon.
Dinner by 6 or 7 and not as heavy as afternoon food. Absorption phase ends at 8 (12PM -> 8PM) so the earlier, the better.

Appropriation phase (8PM -> 4AM)

While you sleep, the nutrients absorbed earlier will be shunted to where they're needed. This is why if you're taking minerals it's best to ingest them before bed.

------------------------

That's the most-valuable start I can recommend for anyone besides more-hardcore options like raw-food only... which will cure just about anything BTW. Like a fast except you're still-eating. Best of both worlds.

Not expecting you to do anything but I can tell you that obeying the above three phases in the manner in which I described is guaranteed to yield results. Best thing about it is you don't have to go out and purchase supplements or different fancy-schmancy food; just work with what you've got and what you're used to.

Have to say this 'cause you mentioned weight:
Increase raw oils (olive is perfect) and decrease cooked oils. Pour raw oil on your meals once they're cooled a little so you don't destroy it.

I used to do the 16:8 intermittent fasting. With the time I went to bed at night, I didn't really eat past 8 anyways, and with my job, I would rather just go balls to the wall and get it done rather than eating. I'd usually be done around 11:30 am or so and would just grab something on the way home, or wait till I got home and eat a prepped meal I had done. That worked out well, scheduling wise.

Now, when I go on ketovore/carnivore, I'll be able to adopt intermittent fasting again and when I do eat fruits or vegetables, I'll eat ones with low glycemic load to keep insulin from spiking and making me a fat ass again lol It worked out nicely that the vegetables I've decided to grow in my garden are all low glycemic load veggies (though some are technically fruits). If I was growing carrots and potatoes I'd be screwed lol

Ugh, I feel worse on day 3 than either days 1 or 2. This shit is supposed to go away after day 2 and people start feeling better. If I don't feel better by about noon tomorrow, I'm going to break this fucking thing off like I originally intended rather than going 1 extra day on into Monday morning.

I’ve had great success the last few months with an 18:6 intermittent fasting. Basically do all your eating within a 6 hour window and fast long enough for your body to burn the excess.
I wouldn’t say I cut much out of my diet except for excessive sugar. That shit is poison.
Most days look like a green smoothie around 10am, usually kale, banana, pineapple, some açaí or other antioxidant powder and cashew milk. I’m not against regular milk, I just prefer the texture of cashew milk in shakes.
Lunch is a toss up because I usually eat whatever is being served up a work, but usually a protein rich salad of sorts. Dinner is tough because I eat with my family so I’m at the mercy of what they want, but the biggest part for me is to get it in early before 6pm or so.

I’m well below my initial target weight but I’m still doing it just because I have more energy, sleep better and just feel better in general.

I’m slightly more lenient now that I am bulking back up with some sort of protein later in the evening, but often I just push my first meal a bit later the day after.

Good luck and the key is to find something that doesn’t feel too much like work.

I hate lifting weights so I try and do a good 30-45 mins of calisthenics everyday, but my window to do so is usually after the kids go to bed, and working after 9pm kinda sucks

A couple week intensive gut cleanse is always helpful too. I like to start off with a week of strictly raw foods like fruits, veggies, seeds and so on. Maybe some white meat. Then week two introduce red meats and more fatty foods. The biggest thing is to avoid processed foods.
Can’t say it does a whole lot for weight loss, but it makes my body feel a lot better and ready to process whatever diet you move forward with a bit better

I used to do 16:8 if for a while a few years ago and it wasn't hard at all. I'm going to go get some bone broth to break this thing either tomorrow or Monday morning and do that most of the day for my "food" probably, and then start eating regular meals again the day after. I got lots of eggs, meat, cottage cheese, coconut milk. So low to no carb stuff with plenty of tasty fat.

I am similar to these schedules and trying to include more fruit - mostly blue berries and strawberries.

Keep at it Matt :yes:
