I would never make the mistake of underestimating someone's physical abilities and toughness based on their politics in spite of the fact that some left men are little wimps and some conservatives are obese hogs. *shrugs

i learned in middle school to never ever underestimate someone.
I picked a fight with this little wimpy kid. first few days were no problem. it was fun.
later in the week he near knocked me cold. he had a bunch of fishing weights in is fists this time around.
I learned to respect him after that maneuver and we eventually became friends. I knew he had a screw loose and was never afraid to fight
all through HS he had my back lol

Pretty amazing how people often became friends after a skirmish. It happened to me a few times as well. Maybe as kids, we hadn't learned to hold grudges yet.

One of my former Martial Arts Instructors is a case in point.
Dude was a legit badass............held several different black belts....moved to Korea to take Hapkido there...ended up getting his black belt there....anyone who knows what that involves as a 'westerner' will understand.
Anyway...he is a very unassuming 6 foot 185 lbs. Pretty small compared to many of us in his class. Looks like a nerd basically.
This guy was unreal.... I cannot get over how much power he had. Sparring, I have taken shots that fractured my ribs, but that was fucking nothing compared to a fucking left JAB from Matt (the instructor)......I had a heavy muay Thai forearm pad on....one that could handle kicks with ease....and I swear to God....Matt's jab hit so fucking hard, it had me thinking he snapped my arm in 2! Holy shit.
So moral of story.....there are some really really scary doors out there....l need to remember that more often before my temper gets away from me....

I never got to take Hapkido myself, but always wanted to try it. My instructor used to talk about a customer he had named Mr Kim who was a Korean TKD master. He asked him why he never opened up classes over here and he basically said the average American who wants to take a martial art is weak and would never last in his class.
We enjoyed beating the shit out of each other in our classes, repeated slams on the ground (no pussy mats or padding for us), hitting each other with the sticks/shinai, etc. He passed the school on to me, but I haven't been in a hurry in like 3 or 4 years to advertise or teach anyone, cuz 99% of the people that would show up would be little pussies about it.
