DLR Show- So much better than the Hagar/ VH show

Dave was a passable vocalist in 1983. Clearly. He probably wouldn’t be nearly as horrible as he is now if he would stay in his range. Every time he reaches for a high note I’m embarrassed for him. And I say that as a guy who is a big fan of Van Halen and can barely tolerate Van Hagar.
I actually thought Dave sound quite good at this show compared to the first DLR re-union tour in 2007 with Wolfie on bass when he was a total Liberace Vegas hound. I listened to the entire show and all the band was extremely good guitars on point.... it was a good show.

Dave was and is the consummate Vegas entertainer......love him or leave him.......he is still Diamond Dave.

Gear was a dimed Marshall SLP on a variac into Reactive load box and re-amped into 2 JCM800 effects returns, each head powering 2 cabs on each side of stage, it's very loud! haha

Thanks for all the positive comments, hope to see some of you on the upcoming tour!
Al.. just wanted to say that you’re doing an amazing job and sounding fantastic.
Love the tone and the playing. Looking forward to seeing you and Dave 2nd row at the Hampton Beach casino on August 13th. A sincere thank you for playing Ed’s parts as well as you do.

MVP Award goes to Mr. Estrada.
I think I would have turned this off in a minute if it weren’t for him.
He’s carrying the whole show.

Absolutely phenomenal tone, playing and feel. Thank you, Al!

You nailed it👍🙏
totally agree! DLR is lucky to have him.

and vocal quality aside, the closer DLR adheres to the original vocal *cadence* of the tunes, the more i buy into the song. deploy the scat/off tempo story stuff more strategically and sparingly like a comedic punch line. too much of it during a song sounds like he’s old and forgetful and doesn’t care enough about the audience to try. the very purposefully choreographed big band drop outs where he goes into his funny stories where drums keep the beat and Al does fills are great.

get this lady to play bass

i didn’t mind the bk vox gang at all.
maybe one or two hottie chick backup singers to nail the high notes and for he and the dudes to flirt with to add to the theater of it all.

the lights were pretty static “clean up on aisle 9”
intelligent color beams and fog would do wonders

Thought that was Al! Sounds killer as always man, and so much EVH vibe in there. Agreed, love Satch but watching him try to play some of this stuff is painful.

Ha! In a world of custom pickups, I love that Al is getting it done with a simple ol' JB.. Dave's run is coming to an end, vocals just can't do it anymore but Al/Stradazone is killing it and carrying the band. Drummer is good too. But to get the gig night after night to play killer songs, why not.
