Clayman gets all the credit, but Colony is where its at.

Lets talk about how perfect In Flames sounded in 1999.

the riffs, the layering, THAT FUCKING 5150 TONE so well represented. The bass being super dark and fat with no punch at all really makes every low C note pop.
This might be the perfect swedish metal record. Slaughter of the Soul when you want to rage, Colony when you want to vibe.

My estrogen levels must be too high, Reroute to Remain is my favorite.
Nope you got good taste bro...Love that one as well..great songwriting..shows growth and maturity.
That said..their earlier stuff is godly. Jesper was a catalyst for this band..too bad the personal issues led to the demise of the OG band.
December Flower is such a a great solo..Jester's dance I listen to on repeat..so mesmerizing.

that December Flower solo was actually Fredrik Johansson who played in Dimension Zero with Jesper. I love that solo and the lead tone on that record.

Early in their career they were totally unstoppable. They fell off afterwards. I think my favorite song is Pinball Map. The Jester's Race album was GREAT, if only they'd had a bit better tone/production, it would have been even more crushing.
Pinball Map is just so good

Clayman is totally overrated imo. Colony is awesome, though already quite different from jester race and whoracle, which are my favorite IF records. I can still appreciate soundtrack to your escape and come clarity, though this sounds like a different band.
After Jesper left, i rather listened to dimension zero
