Well damn, guess I do like Les Pauls

always been a supersrat or vintage strat guy. Then I got the itch for a singlecut but got distracted by a bobcat that’s cool but something entirely different.

Last month I found an R9 on reverb that’s ultra light aged that has quickly become my favorite guitar. It’s odd, definitely not the best playing guitar, but the thick neck and slinky feel are pretty addicting. It has the really thick sound I was looking for that I haven’t found in any other guitar. Plugged in it was instantly recognizeable. Anyways, guess I’m a Les Paul guy now 🤷

definitely not the best playing guitar?
Honestly I have a few that are better players. I have an old suhr that’s nothing special that I think plays better. That’s all subjective anyway though.

The point I was trying to make is the Les Paul just has a certain mojo that I can’t put my finger on. Probably because I grew up in a strat type guitar.

I should quantify that “not the best playing” was meant literally. It plays fine, just not literally the best I own.

It's tough to beat a good LP for rock, blues-rock, or blues. The thickness and sustain is amazing. The lack of upper fret access less so but it's always a trade off with guitars IME. Congrats on a beautiful new axe.

I got an R7 recently that I feel very much the same way about.

Mine plays surprisingly well for such a beefy neck & small’ish frets, but nothing like my suhr or charvel.

lucky you, mine is unplayable for me and just sits in the corner lol

Looks killer..congrats!!

I am also a Superstrat player, USA Charvel/Jacksons....for my LP itch, I have a Greco Sykes and a History flame top. Both MiJ LPs, not the real deal but close enough for me.
I still may pull the trigger on a 70s LP at some point.

Congrats! I've got 2 superstrats, a Les Paul and a 335 style guitar. I usually reach for the superstrats, but Les Pauls and semi hollow guitars go to sonic areas that the superstrats aren't capable of.
