Congrats on a Beautiful R9.
Do a really good set up and it will play how you want.
The fatter neck might make it harder for you to play compared to other guitars, but you will adapt quickly.
Once I did I sold my PRS Custom 24 and my Ibanez Prestige.

yeah I never really liked les pauls but recently wanted one with a floyd so got one and now I have a custom as well that has fast become my got to guitar ... it's cool how tastes continue to change even after nearly 40 years of playing

I think part of it might be the shorter scale as my hands get older and hurt more haha

Sorry, no can do. I like the way they sound when other people play them. But they just don't work for me...

Yeah I was in the same boat till recently. Never handled a LP that I could connect with, and I tried a bunch over the years. Then one day I got to play a Murphy R8, and then shortly after bought a Murphy LPC. I kept playing any other LP I could & quickly realized that at the Murphy/Custom level I'm for sure a LP guy... Dammit!

So many flavors of LPs out there these days. I have an Epi LP but due to the lack of stainless steel frets I'm looking at an LTD EC for my 2nd LP.
