this particular story sounded a bit far fetched

https://www.newsweek.com/zak-bagans...ed-guitar-that-supposedly-killed-teen-1575830

but the part about the guitar trying to remove itself from the trash can reminded me of two similar stories shared with me by two totally unrelated acquaintances of mine (my 7th grade teacher in the 70s and our church custodian in the 2000’s), decades apart, regarding ouija boards.

here in Hawaii there are a ton of supernatural stories tied to specific locations and items you may not want to dabble with for fun or out of curiosity.

i am one of the founders and storytellers on an annual spooky story trolley tour here on Oahu which we have hosted for the community since 2017. beside personal experiences, i have collected and documented dozens of interviews and encounters in and around the Pearl Harbor area. i live about 3 miles from the West Loch of Pearl Harbor and the attacks during WWII focused primarily around the East and Middle Lochs.

not my content, but generally a really fascinating YT channel sharing stories compiled from military folks who encounter strange things all over the world. this episode is about Oahu:

I grew up in a house in upstate NY that was part of the underground railroad. When we renovated parts of the house, we found hidden rooms between walls. The attic had a fake wall with a space to go over the garage and a hole to drop down, which would have been stables back in the day. There were crawl spaces in each closet that spanned the perimeter of the house. The house itself is in history books because 2 slaves were buried in the front yard. Was a wild place to grow up, some spooky nights. :scared:

i spent a few days in an old plantation mansion in south carolina owned by jim kennedy the cox communication mogul. my friend and i were cameramen on a show called Ducks Unlimited and we were going to film a traditional quail hunt where hunters ride horseback or on a horse drawn carriage through the canopied woods draped with spanish moss as dogs flush out the quail.
we arrived late at night and the place was old and smelled musky—civil war 1800’s trippy carpets, huge portraits, crown molding, big doors, spiral staircases…

as usual my friend and i tried to case the joint to claim the biggest guest room. my friend scored what amounted to the master suite, laughing at me for being too slow on the draw. my room was equally excessive but just a bit smaller.

we convene for a late meal in the dining “quarters” and once everyone was seated the host pressed a secret button under the table and a butler and staff of servants dressed to the nines filed in with selections fit for royalty. freshly baked breads, pheasant under glass, roast duck with plum sauce, broiled and crusted chilean seabass and shrimp, red and white wines…i woulda been good with a big mac!

as we wrapped it up and headed out to our rooms, the host asked which one of us was staying in the master suite and my friend bragged how he beat me to it. host nods at me and says “smart move not taking that one..that damn room is haunted as s$&@!”
🤣
said the last guest that stayed there the week prior had just closed his eyes when he heard and felt heavy breathing on his face and opened his eyes to see the pale glowing face and torso of a scowling old hag emerge out of the headboard a few inches over his head!

my friend’s smirk faded quickly😁
