I'm thinking about purchasing this amp, but still a bit undecided. How well does it take pedals? How good is the clean channel? Will the Hotrod mode give you 80's type rock distortion?

I think yes on all accounts. I almost bought one a few years ago, they're great sounding amps. Lots of tone shaping options. Hotrod mode gets you 80s, but I would imagine hitting it with a boost would make it that much better.
Cleans are great, and it really does 70s rock/Zeppelin exceptionally well.
