Mixing two Mesa V30's with two G12T75's in a Marshall cabinet

While you have it apart, check all the screws. I bought a couple older ones, and they both had finger tight or loose bolts on the speakers, and the baffles had loose screws on both. It seemed to make a positive difference just shoring everything up, and replacing the cheap wiring/jacks IME.
The cab is solid, it a standard 1960A. By all appearances it didn't get used much by the previous owner who bought it new in 2016 from Sweetwater according to him, the build date on the inside handles shows it was made in 2013.

I have already removed the mono/Stereo jack switch which was giving a reading of 35 ohms when I picked it up instead 13-13.5 while in mono but I knew those switches go bad. I wired it up series parallel to a new cliff mono jack and all four speaker read 13.0 ohms like it should. I don't know why Marshall continues to use that mono stereo switch. My JCM900 cab from the 90's also had issues with that switch setup and I hardwired that cab as well and I like to solder all the speaker connections with new 16 gauge wire so no biggie there.

I think I will either order two new UK made V30's or two 12H-30's to mix with the Mesa spec V-30's. Decisions, Decisions????

It's been a long time since I've played any T75's.........I love the Mesa V30's though, they are killer in my Mesa Roadster cabinet so I picked up two to throw in to this 1960 A cab I picked up and it came with the T75's so I thought I would at least try them out and see if I like them.

I'm not a green back guy so 12H-30's are my go to speaker.
the T75s are obnoxious on their own. i’ve used them in 1x12/2x12/4x12 and the best is x with v30 and you’re far enough away from the cab to benefit from hearing the blend.

overall had a dislike of those speakers since the 80s. BUT….for rock/metal tones live as a player or audience member they seem to cut through the stage mix in a usefully raspy way, and the older england ones do get better with age.

I would definitely do an X pattern. That is a tried and true combo that works really well.

Totally this - at least 3 of the 90's JCM900 cabs I've been inside have had speakers installed with screws that were barely finger tight. Tightening them up with a screw driver tightened the cabs bass response right up.

What they said....you'd be surprised as to how loose the screws can be on these old cabs. Long ago, when I read this I opened up all my cabs and every one of the vintage Marshall/metal grill Mesa cabs that I had, had loose screws to some degree. They all sounded noticeably better/tighter after tightening them.

Also just to add, I've done the Mesa V30/UK 75 in an X pattern in said JCM900 cab... and I dig it. I'd mount them in an X pattern for sure.

At this moment I'm leaning towards the new UK V30's since I have two other cabs with 75hz 12H-30's and one with 55HZ. I think the Mesa V30 with their more scooped EQ and strong low end would pair well with the new UK V30's which have more mids but not spikey judging from the most recent YT videos of them.

This is the way.

The 75s.....theres two good things about them. They make your power chord sound mean, and they also have a kind of clarity to them, but this is offset by the fact they sound like plastic and have no balls.

X pattern. I used to have v30's mixed with t75's in my avatar cab, but then went with all v30's because it's more in your face sounding IMO. I find the t75's have a kinda distant midrange to them, kinda made the cab a bit hazy sounding.

Lol, I have a V30/T75 X cab and I keep thinking about making it all T75s because I find the V30s very harsh and nasally, and I have been liking the T75s much better. They have that scooped 90's metal tone to them.

i can tell you this—the modern chinese v30s are nasty—muddier mids and harsher top end— compared to the older mesa or ipswich versions i had in my 90s/00s cabs.
still the hall of shame top prize goes to the 70/80. i pulled that AM kazoo out of a tech21 power engine and literally threw it away in the trash. i probably should have harvested the magnet out of it to make a metal detector for finding stuff with at the beach.
