Trying to make 4/4 sound like 6/8

You guys ever messed with trying to fool the ear into "hearing" a different time signature than is actually being played?

I'm doing some early testing with this

The drums sounds 4/4 to me, sounds like you are double timing the riff in the beginning of each turn around

They are, I'm just accentuated changes around the 6 instead of the 4 or 8 each time to try and make it feel different

Yep, absolutely. It happens with skank/pogo beats in thrash sometimes, too.

I love moments like that because it's like hearing a new song. The problem is, it never lasts long once your ear recognizes the down beat.
