really well done short doc on the boys.
does every hollywood rock story have to include young wholesome talent spiraling into drugs and death?

They were really the early 70s biggest act? I didn’t realise they were that popular.

i mentioned on a post a while back that the opening line of the song Joy to the World,

“Jeremiah was a bullfrog..”
and the riff associated with that,

was my childhood idea of what the term heavy metal meant.

Dude! I’m rollin😂😂
oh trust me my friend,
when he told me that story and reenacted the facial expressions and startled body postures while testing his newfound abilities to smell the sky with his ears,

i died!

Can’t believe it’s taken me on RT for you to finally hear about that. Oldest myth/bad attempt by teenage boys to get some, in the book.

Was more of a lez-be-friends kind of teenager. Not a lot of attractive male options in the goth scene 🤷‍♀️

I wish I could hear music all the time the same way as it sounds on weed or psychedelics. So much more intensely engaging and 3 dimensional than sober brain processes it. Instruments lock into clear focus and spacial positioning for me. Blissful hours.
I've always been a predominantly rock/metal/guitar centric music fan, but DnB and electro music (or purely instrumental music) is a total different experience in that state. It finally clicked and I was like 'Ohh, THIS is why people listen to this stuff, now I get it' Definitely a more visceral experience.

Oh yeah. Damn. I didn’t even think of that being them.

Normally I can’t stand people that reminisce about teenage years and things like that, but if you ever want to get nostalgic I’m all ears lol. Only 18 plus stories though! I’m a father and a pillar of the community.

I was unfortunately more of hand-be-friend teenager that was shy around girls and put them on a pedestal. Wish I could go back and slap young me. Why couldn’t I have been a psychopath like most other teenage boys?

i love this haunting melody stuff

and contrary to her wifely varierty TV show image, Mrs. Bono muscled some pretty dark lyrical content on prime time back then. again haunting melodies:

A lot of people don't realize, the "Bullfrog" in that song represented a hash/coke mixture they had on the bus when they drove into Tulsa while on tour.

I pulled that completely out of my ass. I may have had a few drinks.....

There's been a report that the thread doesn't belong here, but rather in OTC 'cause it's not gear-related.

I disagree; it's industry-related. This is a reality of the recording / performing-arts industries and every pro has had this sort of conversation with his peers at some time or another.

If this turns into an ad-hominem cringefest you know where it'll go...

In Texas in the early 80s, it was called speed metal for a reason. It was the end of the P2P era. I was 6'3 and 180 lbs. Real deal biker meth was king. I should stop writing this post now...
More ‘ telll me more

99% of the hit albums in the 70's/80's/90's agree with you. :p

This thread is actually tame. No one is talking about Mr. Brownstone, which was like the the modern day fentanyl. I knew several people that died from both those drugs unfortunately. I have family that died from fentanyl, thinking it was heroine. Plenty of careers were derailed by that shit.

There is a guy on this forum, I knew from back in the day, that was all set to tour with a national act. They sounded amazing for the time, back in 2005? They had that nu metal sound that was all over the radio. His singer messed the whole thing up. I'll let him elaborate if he sees this.
