Just got a ceriatone gargoyle and love it. My kind of brutal with a marshally grind. I want to switch to kt88’s. What resistor do i need to change or piggy-back to allow this? Thanks for any info.
Im totally taking it to someone as soon as i can. Extremely limited on techs here in SC, and just trying to learn.According to the schematic you have independent tube bias capability already with a pretty significant swing. What is it you’re trying to accomplish? Researching or trying to bias an already purchased set of KT88s?
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW HOW TO DO THIS TAKE IT TO A QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN:
If you haven’t yet purchased them, You’d be better off measuring the voltage across one of the 1 ohm cathode resistors on the power tubes and also measuring the plate voltage out of standby and requesting a set of KT88 tubes that are close to your current bias point.
is the gargoyle a modded plexi circuit ??Im totally taking it to someone as soon as i can. Extremely limited on techs here in SC, and just trying to learn.
Jose modis the gargoyle a modded plexi circuit ??
Its supposedly a meshuggah clone. I dont use the clipping diodes, bit it def has more gain than a stock jcm or a plexi with a master volume. I love it. Just grinding and clear. Just not an el34 guy. I always switch my 800’s to kt88’sis the gargoyle a modded plexi circuit ??
I havent tried the loop yet but will check it out at practice tomorrow.Does Nik put his buffered loop in the Gargoyle?
I waited forever for one to pop up and grabbed it as soon as i saw it. Its really an interesting amp and has just the right amount of saturation and tightness to get the job done.(boosted) But the base tone and mids are just crazy good. Not honky or shrill. I took my rev g home to sell after one practice.Best bet is to just send it to me. I foolishly sold mine. Such an awesome amp.

Yeah it was cool, but ididnt actually like what the clipping diodes did at band volume. Already flipped it lol. If i was using it for purely recording i would have kept it.Clone of the Fortin Meshuggah, which is in turn a basic DIY Jose mod variant.

Hahahah yep. Took it to practice and it didnt hang with my other amps. With diodes engaged, and lined out to another power amp it was cool, but im not toting another head around..Wait, you already got rid of the amplifier posted in the OP?
That's how I feel about the Jubilee.. Leave the rhythm clip OFF, and it sounds much bigger, and boosts nicely.Could have me build you one. Ceriatone got the layout/schematic for this circuit from me in the first place. But the schematic they pilfered from SLO Clone forum was incomplete. So they never really got the circuit right. The version I build differs slightly from the Meshuggah though. Just depends what you're looking for.
You said you don't use the clipping diodes. So I'm not sure a "Jose" mod is even the right choice though. But I will say the version I build takes a boost really well and sounds better boosted than with the diodes engaged. So it would actually be pretty easy to get that sound by just modding a 2203/2204/800 and leave the diode clipping out.
