Was looking around for another superstrat for different tunings and Suhr hit my radar.

I first discovered them years ago on this very forum, thinking at 30 whatever years old I’d never be able to afford them, much less pay that for a guitar.

Turns out I can and I’ve paid way more for other guitars so….

Suhr Modern, roasted maple neck, ebony board, alder body, SS medium frets, 10-14” radius, 3 way blade and a couple EMGs. Man these things are SOLID. This isn’t going to beat out my Caparisons but it’s right up there. I see why these get the love they do, fit and finish are excellent, nothing is wonky, everything exactly as it should be. I was kind of excited to not buy another black guitar lol

Reverb listings, since I work for a living and have zero time for pics, and the woman I bought this from took lovely ones.

I have the Harley Benton version of this guitar, lol.

I have always been curious about the Suhr Moderns. On paper they look perfect, but not sure I would like the neck, as I have read they are a little flatter, like a Jackson, which I cant do.

You can custom order several different profiles and fretboard radii

Hey bro, been a while. What’s your main guitar? Mine is a Caparison MM, 2 of them actually and the closest I’ve come to another neck shape to describe that one is a Jackson lol

This isn’t that. It’s very comfortable, little thicker than my LPs that both have 60s necks and thicker than my ESPs but it’s an elliptical. It’s thicker on the bass strings than it is higher up and it’s a compound radius which makes chording low awesome and easier for solo runs too. If you can play one do it, I have a friend that will only buy ESPs but he loves all 3 of my Caparisons and digs on this one quite a bit too.

Looks beautiful. What is it about your Caparisons that this can’t “beat out”? I’ve been looking at Suhr a lot lately, and one of the main reason if stainless frets. I find the Japanese guitars that I love are slow to going stainless.

When you do custom orders, do they let you do straight (non-compound) radii necks? The 14" radius neck on the Suhr Satin Modern is still my favorite I've played.

Yes, you can even send them a neck profile and they can copy it.

Mostly for me is the radius and nut width; the neck on the Suhr is 1.65” and my Caps are 1.625. Doesn’t sound like a lot but I can feel it.

Also the main two Caps have vintage sized SS frets and I really dig em. These are medium and work but I’d rather have smaller frets.

I think I have 20 guitars, so I don't really have a main. My favorites are probably Schecter though. Narrow 42mm nuts with round C necks about 20mm thick. I can't do flatter wider necks.
