Super PAF Ceramic
It's got a Super Distortion wind and magnet, but with PAF type polepieces ie: 6 screws and 6 slugs.
@scottosan got any thoughts on how or if the different polepieces affect the tone?

The Super PAF Ceramic sounds like it probably gets into Duncan Custom territory.

When I saw the announcement I thought they had stuck a ceramic in a paf wind. I got excited because I was thinking about trying that kind of pickup, but turned out that wasn't the case. Still sounds cool though.

I have an Area T hot set in my telecaster and they are great. These seem pretty cool too.

I'm glad I'm not the only proud DiMarzio fanboi around here lol

I love DiMarzio. I used to stare at the DiMarzio catalog when I was 13. My Dad called it a fetish. Well Dad, I turned that "fetish" into a career. He and I laugh about it now. LOL When I got my first DiMarzio (A Super2 - DP104) I felt like I'd won the lottery. I've loved their products for decades. That company has been really good to me. Back in the 90's I was on the phone with Steve Blucher asking what pickups he thought would be good in my new carved top Peavey Wolfgang. Steve said if I'd send him the pickups in my Wolfgang to him so he could check them out, he'd send me new DiMarzios and return my original pickups. I did, and he was a man of his word. I got my Peavey pickups back along with a new Air Norton/Air Zone set. I slapped the DiMarzios into my Wolfgang and flipped out because they took that guitar to another level. Steve sent me quite a few free pickups over the years. He's a stand up guy. DiMarzio is a great company.

I’m guessing the super paf is gonna sound pretty much the same as a super distortion, just look more like a paf for those that care

The last DiMarzios I had were OEM in a 57 Hot Rod Strat (narrow tone zone IIRC, and noiseless). They did a super job in that guitar and I never once wanted for anything or considered replacing them. Would love to try some current stuff.

Their descriptions on the site for these new pickups are somewhat lacking; I'd like to hear about the Super PAF.

Dimarzios are good for two things. Trying to beef up and add gain to a NMV amp. And secondly, trying to fix a thin/shitty sounding guitar (Kiesel for example).

I dig a few of their single coils, but the only decent humbucker they have IMO is the regular Norton DP160.

No clips on their site?

That bridge Tele doesn't look that high of output (8.47K), but also wtf is "output: 200" even mean? Also magnent is "alnico"... I mean it's probably a 5 but 2s aren't uncommon in teles.

I've got 6 Dimarzios and I like all of em. It's not magic, it's magnets and wire and they have been doing it as long as just about anybody.

I can't argue with you on the Norton--it's in the bridge slot of 2 of my guitars. I really enjoy the SD in my Charvel partscaster.

Small family owned US company providing quality pro level gear at reasonable prices. Not sure what there is NOT to like, even if all their pickups aren't your fave.

Agree on the regular Norton. It's a GREAT bridge pickup.

Nah. Even in the 70's they had the PAF and the Super 2 which are clean and bright, but in 2025 they offer a veritable fuckton of pickups that cover a lot of tonal ground.

I agree that the Norton is awesome. I'm addicted to the FRED, personally. The EVO 2 is a badass as well. Air Norton (DP193)/Air Zone (DP192) combo is incredible. (I hate the Tone Zone! LOL)

The tone zone can be ass in the wrong guitar but really great in another. I really need to try a Norton.

Just tried a Dominion in a heavy ash bodied SS with a floyd and it rips. Lots of great pups out there just gotta find the one that gets along with your particular instrument and goals.
