I can only give you my experience with the HJS model, it's a tamed down version of the 410. I do like the serial loop better but understand, I've never had issue with the 410 loop, and I like the Noise Gates. The Choke is a wash for me, as it was on the modded version I had. Here are the main differences, copied directly from a Marshall site with my thoughts highlighted out to the side.
HJS - Completely different Crunch channel from standard JVM -
better than the stock model, really the only channel I liked better on the HJS
HJS - Noise Gates instead of Reverb -
should have been stock on the 410H's
HJS - Choke -
wash for me
HJS - Different voicing from standard JVM -
on all channels. No classic OD1 Orange which to me is the money channel.
HJS - Different gain structure from standard JVM -
huge disappointment here thus my "tamed" down comment, again no OD1 Orange
HJS - Less gain on OD channels -
again huge disappointment then again, this make sense since Joe uses OD's and again no OD1 Orange
HJS - Clean channel similar to 6100 -
yep, not as good as the stock but again makes sense since Joe was a big fan of the 6100
HJS - Series FX loop (vs. parallel) -
I prefer the serial but again, never had problems with the stock 410 loop, just turn your volume up to compensate for the drop
HJS - Faster switching than standard JVM -
yes, prefer the switching on the HJS.
All this said, you may need to try for yourself as this is just my experience and opinion only. Btw/ here's a great thread with Santiago, the JVM designer that I always try and pass on to JVM users. Good read -
