I get this amp today so should be fun to check out. jabps, reading your stuff on this forum about comparing the same amps I have to it and knowing you been a big supporter of this amp and even comparing it to the Satch model sold me on it. I've also had like 900 DSL's and as well as a TSL and own other Marshall older amps and modded ones so it will be interesting to compare.
Remember all we can vouch for is our own experiences, everyone hears and feels things differently. Best of luck on the amp.

Hey guys, just an update on this. Was a little underwhelmed at first with the tone of gain channels. However, after spending a lot more time with this amp, the clean is really really good for a Marshall and any high gain amp. The crunch tones are amazing, like any Marshall should be and the OD1 orange is my opinion of what a modded Marshall should sound like and the using the red mode on the OD2 is perfect modded modern Marshall. I can't believe how much gain is on tap with this thing. As I turn up the master it just sounds better and better and doesn't fall apart or anything. It's got a really cool bark and dirtiness to the mid-range with that 10k cold clipper and an awesome top end. Has a good tightness to the amp and doesn't really need a boost or anything. Now I really want the try the 410HJS version and see how that sounds, however I'm extremely happy with this amp and how it sounds.

I can only give you my experience with the HJS model, it's a tamed down version of the 410. I do like the serial loop better but understand, I've never had issue with the 410 loop, and I like the Noise Gates. The Choke is a wash for me, as it was on the modded version I had. Here are the main differences, copied directly from a Marshall site with my thoughts highlighted out to the side.

HJS - Completely different Crunch channel from standard JVM - better than the stock model, really the only channel I liked better on the HJS
HJS - Noise Gates instead of Reverb - should have been stock on the 410H's
HJS - Choke - wash for me
HJS - Different voicing from standard JVM - on all channels. No classic OD1 Orange which to me is the money channel.
HJS - Different gain structure from standard JVM - huge disappointment here thus my "tamed" down comment, again no OD1 Orange
HJS - Less gain on OD channels - again huge disappointment then again, this make sense since Joe uses OD's and again no OD1 Orange
HJS - Clean channel similar to 6100 - yep, not as good as the stock but again makes sense since Joe was a big fan of the 6100
HJS - Series FX loop (vs. parallel) - I prefer the serial but again, never had problems with the stock 410 loop, just turn your volume up to compensate for the drop
HJS - Faster switching than standard JVM - yes, prefer the switching on the HJS.

All this said, you may need to try for yourself as this is just my experience and opinion only. Btw/ here's a great thread with Santiago, the JVM designer that I always try and pass on to JVM users. Good read - Click Here.

Thank you for the run down. I'm not ever going to use the loop and the noise gates would be an amazing addition to this amp. However I don't find it any noisier than any of my other high gain amps. I think I'm going to stick with the regular JVM. Not having the OD1 orange would suck as I also think that is the money channel as well for me, that and the O2 red for more modern, tighter voiced modded Marshall. I'll check out the thread. I'm trying to hold back how great this amp is until after the honeymoon phase. It really does sounds great! The biggest knock I can give it is the crunch channel being a little loose which is a super easy fix either with a boost or just changing the first coupling cap on the eq pot crunch board. I'll end up selling the MT-100 to keep the JVM which is saying alot.

I'm happy you are enjoying this amp. Pretty surprised it's not more of us around here are not as positive about the the JVM410. In regards to the HJS, I too liked the noise gates as an option, aside from that...Just a JVM410H that is badly in need of some testosterone. It seemed like the classic or "dad" rock version of the JVM. And removing the OD1 Orange option is just silly. Marshall really just need to update the features of the current JVM410H and address the Crunch channel while they're at it. My honeymoon period is long over and I still have mine. If you have any inclination towards having a traditional Marshall / Mod Marshall sound in your arsenal...It allows you to access all those tones in one box.

Yeah I have a Marshall Origin 50 that I modded to be more of a BE channel that is tighter and more modern and aggressive along with what I call the skankbag100 which is an amp I assembled to my own mods/specs which is basically just a Jose pre tone stack master. Everyone that comes over to play guitar loves that amp, and the JVM still sounds different and in a good way so I'm super happy about that. Again with the volume up around 4 on the master it just opens up and sounds soooo dang good on the OD1 orange mode. Its aggressive where it needs to be and sounds like a Marshall. It's a great sound! Awesome amp! Really digging it!

Same on the noise, I don't even own a gate. I just think in this day and age the built in gates would be better than the reverb. And OD2 is really an underrated channel, there's even a way to set it (John Segeborn on youtube) where you can get a quasi Plexi sound.
