I've seen all kinds of wire hooked up to those stereo plates, sir. 22 gauge, 20, 18, it's pretty much a crapshoot. The 425a cab I recently rewired had what looked like 18-20 gauge. Problem is that you actually have to examine the wire (usually by cutting it) to see if it's got a thick insulation jacket or thin. So it varies quite a bit.

The other problem is the plate itself being flimsy and with PCB mounted jacks, and solder bath leads to the wires...barf...it's just a recipe for disaster.
 
I have both the 1960A and B cabs... I was previously always struggling with an "emptyness" to the overall sound of both cabs... then I swapped some 75's for V30's in X-pattern for both cabs and it got much more brighter and "in your face" than ever before... I'm still waiting for them to break in so I can get a better feel for the overall sound... sometimes it sounds great, and sometimes it sounds like too much high end buzz... but still much better than just the 75's by themselves.

Any suggestions on what brand or where to get a set of replacement wiring for a Marshall 1960 cab?

I recommend Aiken wiring with a switch to go stock p/s to mod s/p.
 
I have not read the thread but first check your speaker screws are snug. That’s bit me in the ass. Sometimes the Marshall jackplates cause issues depending on the one on your cab. I have a 2000’s 1960 with 75’s and it is more sizzling and punches different than my other two with v30’s. Make sure your speakers are wired correctly and not out of phase. If you buy used you never know what some window licker has done to it.
 
I musta missed this one. I was super into fixing 4x12 cabs back then.
