Anyone ever think of modding a bass cab for 12" speakers or is it just me.

Are you talking about putting 12" bass speakers in one or converting it to a guitar cab?

No.

Why not just load one up with 10s instead? Drop Greenbacks in an 8x10 and keep it an 8x10.

I wish I had two 8x12 cabs for guitar instead of four 4x12s. Bass is cool like that.

I used to have an old huge and Fn heavy Ampeg standup 412(it was skinnier than a 412, like a wider 212 stood up on its side twice). For Bass; it had some craptastic old Eminence in there with those strange magnets. That thing had a ton of low end (Surprise lol) and used 12' speakers. They also made a 6x12 as well. It was a tilt and roll with the one handle on top, 2 casters on the bottom.
Find one of those and re load it with your fav speakers..
Or, just get a subwoofer.
