Picked up this Epi LPC Pro yesterday. It's a 2018, so it's part of that last run of the old headstock models. Got it off a disappointed Dad who bought it for his son but he never took to playing. So nearly new condition for less than half of what you'd pay new.
I usually always just see black or white Epi LPC's for sale locally, so coming across this was a pleasant surprise

The guitar is lightweight and has that thick, airy and bouncy sound and response to it. Don't know how to explain it. Just really lively sounding. My Epi Standard has that same sound and resonance. Both are MIC too... shocking I know...
The neck is pretty standard Epi stuff, which I've always enjoyed. On this guitar there seems to be a slight flatness to the center of the back of the neck tho, almost like they were going for a soft D shape (?) whatever it is I like it. Good thumb placement when playing lead.

I was planning on installing EMGs like I do with all my LPs...but these ProBucker pickups are AWESOME. I might keep them in! Three of the dials are push/pull coil tap/split as well. This guitar is spec'd as having gold hardware, which threw me off. But once I got it in my hands I realized it's a white gold, or true nickel type color. Same color as my daughter's band flute. Not that typical shiny yellow gold or the fake chrome stuff. Small detail but big cosmetic impact.
This pic is in the natural daylight, but inside and in regular conditions the binding is much more yellow and aged looking.

Nice.👍 I’m trying to snag an epi Cantrell wino locally but the dude is impossible to get hold of… not an epi guy but they have stepped their game up big time…

If you want to bump that tone up even more....if it has the stock mallory caps, swapping them for almost any other cap will really open up the lower midrange. - Some nice PIO .015 for the neck and a .022 for the bridge would do the trick 100%. It's just those yellow Mallory caps always do something to the lower mids and top end that I dislike. Every time I swap them out for someone, they are happier with the end result.

Not trying to kill your vibe, that is one sweet guitar!!!

Congrats on the score find. The probuckers are REALLY good sounding pickups compared to most Epi offerings. I had them in a Sheraton II Pro and they were excellent and the coil splits offered some really sweet tones so it might be worth playing for a while before you switch them out.

Agreed that the Epi Probuckers have good tones in them.

Had a buddy swap a set out, and though I did like the new set better overall, the Epis were surprisingly good sounding.

Post pickup & electronics surgery, full setup & fret dressing...

Went with the EMGs as per the usual plan. The ProBuckers were sweet pickups but I just don't like passive pickups...after years of EMG use, every passive pickup I own and play have this swollen and bloated feel to them and the notes always have this ..."stuff" around them that I always hear. Like an ambient electric dust or something, I don't know...

These EMGs are good but they are new logo ones...and I still think they sound different than my old logo ones. Every set of old logos I have sound more balanced and controlled. I've had this particular set of new logo ones in a few guitars and it always sounds the same...the 81 is a bit hotter and so is the 85. The mids are pushed forward a bit too. They are fine but i have an extra set of old logo 81/85 so I might quickly swap them out next string change.
