Testament Souls of Black being Remixed!!!

I'd rather it sound like the time it's from, as long as the recording and mix are clear not muddy, etc..

There are only a few remix versions of recordings I like vs the original - usually where the original mix was rushed or on a tight budget. I've heard more than a few recordings like this from the '60s and '70s, some of the worst are the Small Faces recordings on Immediate Records, lot's of board / mic distortion in the recordings and/or the mix, that have never been fixed because 3 of the 4 members have been dead for years/decades, and not much money to be made.

true, but once a remix is out it gets tougher to find the original versions...sometimes.

Completely agreed, that’s why I keep my originals double backed up across multiple drives

Remix usually means the drums will now sound like Steven Slate. I’m still scarred by the “remixes” Dave did on Megadeth.

This. I'm not excited for this at all.

I'd rather they just take the reverb off the originals.

But it's most likely going to be sample-replaced, snapped to the grid nonsense

Their 1st albums sounded great and they remixed them too I think
All about the $$$, literally all it is

I will say they did a fantastic job on the First Strike Still Deadly re-recordings, but times have definitely changed with how people work with studios and software since then and lower budgets.

Interested in hearing the results.
I'd love Racer X (or pretty much any shrapnel release) to do the same with the guitar sounds & production from "The Scream".

Oh man completely agreed, those early Racer X records redone would be so killer!

Bruce Bouillet recently launched his patreon and has had some killer lessons!

this is my favorite Testament album and one i think sounds fine as is :dunno: theres very few remixes of major releases i think sound better than the originals, i guess maybe its time for someone to get one right though

I live this album as well.

I look forward to hearing the new version. Maybe it will be great.

It is definitely part of my youth.
