I have had my prized TC box for years now. It seems like every few weeks I find another awesome tone in the thing running into my Voodoo Amps Hex. Currently I am really liking the tone like such:
Level @ 2.4
Bass @ -8
Treble @ +8
I run that between my Jackson JJ1 w/JB pickup and my amp. Amp...
After checking out that VH superbass tone thread, I got to thinking that maybe the secret to awesome tone is actually low gain stages. I don't know too much about vintage amps but I think my Voodoo Amps Hex has 3-4 gain stages with the 4th being switchable. How many stages to super basses and...
I know that having the old cab at ear level is a good idea for a variety of reasons. Problem is I have been trying to come up with a good way to raise my cab off the ground but im shootin blanks. Any ideas?
Other than winging it (which Im decent at), I was wondering if anyone can throw some reggae progressions my way. Ive been seaching the internet and apparently you cant get some simple progressions for free... or maybe i cant search well.
Any help for me?
I was reading up on the pickups and electronics I gutted from my RR1 V and turns out the bridge pup was a J80. I googled it and people say it say its a rockin good pickup! Unfortunately the RR1 had active electrionics which I think was basically a preamp. Regardless it always sounded horrible...

Choices:
1. Dimarzio PAF Pro
2. Dimarzio Tone Zone
This is a clip from Bad Brains album God of Love. I love the tone but I can't figure out if its a Tone Zone or PAF Pro. I bought a Tone Zone and it sounds nothing like that so its got to be the PAF?
So I got a Dimarzio Tone zone for my Jackson RR1 USA. First problem is I got a damn non-trem version and my RR1 has a Floyd. I went ahead and put it in though because I wanted to hear what it might sound like which is where I ran into the 2nd problem. Not too good sounding...
This is a Jackson JJ1 with a TC Electronic booster pushing my modded Marshall. I think I turned it on 3 or 4 for this, so it was not too quiet. I think it sounds pretty close to the recorded tone. Opinions?

This is using my normal gear but I tried to dial in a real high mid tone rather than anything modern.

Thats just a doubled guitar track.
Heres with the actual song mixed a bit loud for a better idea.

I need a set of 2 of these. Would you guys buy the Eminence ones or Celestion.
I hear they both sound similar. The Eminence ones are made in USA and Celestion are made in China. Based on that alone im likely to buy Eminence. I don't buy Chinese goods anymore. Regardless of that, how do...
Bout a year ago i put a SD Distortion in my V. Basically it totally sucks. I have to roll the bass down on my OD pedal to -8db just to get a somewhat acctable sound. Also it sounds mushy probably becase it has too much lower mids. The guitar itself isnt mahogany (I dunno what it is). I need...
I live in BFE and there are not only no music stores around me but also no players. Since shipping is way too much for cabs now my only choice is to try and change out the speakers.
Basically I hate v30s. Im looking to replace them with GT75s since my amp is voiced for those speakers...
So I got a Shure SM57 and recorded the same song for comparson. This is actually my very first take with this setup so bear with me. It should sound much more defined in the high end.
I tried the clip with headphones and it sounds much less punchy than my studio monitors but im sure some...
I know Page uses a Harry Kobe preamp for something but no idea. Also know he loves VHT (pitbulls) now. I've heard he uses Dimarzo pickups in his guitars.
Let me tell you, Helmet is one of my favorite bands and also their live tone is pretty amazing.
How do I achieve it?
I've noticed over the years that every time I switch to thicker strings I start playing way way less technically. I suppose its just hard to pull off tricks and whatnot easily because of the force you need to apply. The result is that I play less complicated music but perhaps this isn't a bad...
